I do have some
old pictures of the Circus that I came across in a box from my Grandmother,
and maybe they could be used at some time. The circus pictures
say they were taken in Fulton, NY, in 1942. I am not
sure where. My Grandmother told me that they used to set up the Circus
on Hannibal Street in Mangot's Field (used to be an airport there)
as you go out of the city, which would make sense, as it would be near
railroad tracks, that would be necessary as I think the circus traveled
by train and there are some there. I have more pictures that say
Downie
Brothers Circus 1928 and 1931. Perhaps some of the
newspaper articles would tell of the event, or site visitors may remember
and could share their stories of the circus. Some of the pictures
look as though they are taken in a field.
************** The Circus is in town! What joyful
words those are to a young child even today. We all have magical
memories of the circus, from the performers under the big top, like the
acrobats, gymnasts, aerial artists, tightrope walkers, the wild animals,
clowns,
