Some inscriptions for the following cemeteries have been listed in Pelletreau's "History of Putnam County" and the links given will take you to the transcribed pages on this site. Additionally, you should view the cemetery page to see what else is available on microfilm at the Family History Centers or what has been published.

In 1886, William S. Pelletreau published his "History of Putnam County, New York with Biographical Sketches of its Prominent Men". Check the Table of Contents for this book and find out what pages may have been transcribed and posted to this site. For those chapters specifically relating to Carmel, see:

Don't overlook any of the Biographical Sketches listed either throughout the text (see table of contents for each chapter) or at the end of the book in Chapter XXIX. A digital copy of this book can also be viewed and downloaded for free from the Internet Archives.

French's Gazetteer of the State OF New York is an important resource for researchers in New York State. It was published in 1860 and, as its title identifies, it gave a "...Comprehensive View of the Geography, Geology, and General History of the State and A complete History and Description of Every County, City, Town, Village, and Locality."

Some copies of the newspaper The Putnam County Republican for the 1940s and 1950s can be viewed online for free at the website entitled Old Fulton Post Cards.
