A copy of the last will and testament of Peter Sharp deceased, with the proof thereof
Recorded August 24th 1807

In the name of God Amen I Peter Sharp of the Town of Greenbush and County of Rensselaer farmer, being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God, calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and this my last will & testament, that is to say, Principally and first of all I give and recomend my soul into the hands of almighty God that gave it and my body I recomend to the earth to be buried in a decent Christian burial nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and is touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life.

I give devise and dispose the same in the following manner and form:

Imprimis, I give and bequeath unto my son Frederick or to his heirs or assigns forever all my farm lying in the town of Greenbush which I now possess with all the building and appurtenances thereunto belonging

Secondly I give and devise unto my son Frederick all my farming utensils waggons slaigs ploughs Harrow and of whatsoever manner or nature it maybe found on the farm after my decease likewise three geldings and my hunting guns

Thirdly I give and devise unto my beloved wife Catherine to receive the equal one third part of all the produce which shall be raised on the farm and one room in my dwelling House as long as she shall remain my widow likewise three milk cows and five sheep likewise the negro wench Chriss to serve my wife as long as she wants her

Fourthly I give devise unto my son Frederick one Yoke of oxen and is to pay all my just debts

Fifthly I give devise unto my daughter Barbara the wife of Isaac Van Alstyn or to her heirs or assigns the sum of one hundred and twenty five dollars to be paid out of my estate by my son Frederick four years after the decease of my wife likewise one feather bed and bedstead after the decease of my wife

Sixthly I give devise unto my daughter Margaret the wife of Seaman Yager or to her heirs or assigns the sum of one hundred and twenty five dollars to be paid by my son Frederick out of my estate four years after the decease of my wife likewise one feather bed and bedstead after the decease of my wife

Seventhly I give and devise unto my son Frederick and my two daughters Barbara and Margaret or their heirs or assigns all my personal estate which maybe found after the decease of my wife which I have not before devised to be equally divided between them share and share alike

Eighthly I give and devise unto my beloved wife all the hogs which are now in the hog pen likewise one sow one large barrow one small barrow and one boar

Lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my wife Catherine and Zachariah Barringer, David Barringer to be the executors of this my last will & testament and I do hereby utterly disallow revolk and disannul all and every other former testament wills legacies bequests Executors by me in any ways before named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty ninth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred.
