David Cole, History of Rockland County.
New York: J. B.
Beers, 1884 (including 1986 every-name index)
In October 1996 sheil@fredonia.edu
wrote to GEN-NYS-L@rootsweb.com:
"I have recently acquired History of Rockland County New York,
which is a reprint of the old Beers edition, with an every name index.
An Appendix has been added to the volume with baptisms from Tappan and
from Clarkstown. There are 4035 baptisms at Tappan, covering the years
1694-1816; another 164 "irregular" baptisms at Tappan covering the
years 1767-1778; and 1853 baptisms at Clarkstown covering the years
1749-1794. The information included the name of the child, the name of
his parents (with the maiden name of the mother), the date of baptism,
and the sponsors (again, with the maiden name of the woman sponsor
given). I will be happy to do any lookups."
[Ed. Note: This reprint is available for $45.00 + $2.50 shipping
charges (+$3.26 sales tax for NY residents). The index alone is
available at $10.15 + $3.00 tax & shipping. Order from Historical
Society of Rockland County, 20 Zukor Road, New City, NY 10956.
914-634-9629. Confirm the price and availability before ordering.
Also, the book (sans index) is available as LDS film #0017887 and
that microfilm can be ordered on interlibrary loan from your nearest Family
History Center.]
