Alice M. (Becker) Franklin obituary
Mrs. Alice M. Franklin
Mrs. Alice M. Franklin, aged 75 years, 10
months, 11 days. At rest Sept. 25, 1923, after a long and painful illness. She was the eldest daughter of
W. Dennis Becker and Catherine Louisa Mattice. Her early life was spent near Breakabeen. After her marriage to Benjamin Franklin, fifty-seven years ago, she had always resided near Franklinton.
Her life was one of unselfish devotion, in bringing up her children in the nature and admonition of the Lord. Her activities and interests had been of that large character which receives from relatives, friends and neighbors a great measure of deep affection and sincere regard which fill the memories of our future years.
Two daughters, Mrs. George Earls of Franklinton, and Mrs. Charles Shaver of Medusa, one son, N. B. Franklin of Fleischmanns, a sister, Mrs. E. B. Frisbie of Schenevus, and two brothers W. S. Becker of Breakabeen and N. J. I Becker of Saratoga Springs, survive her. Also three grandchildren, Clinton Lillian and Ray Earls, and Warren and Helen Earls, great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in her late home, her pastor, Rev. J. C. Harry officiating, and was attended by a number of relatives and friends. Interment at Franklinton.
Though life is sweet, to die is gain,
The living only suffer pain;
Death is a soothing balm that heals
The bitter pang that sorrow feels,
And opens wide the gates of Heaven
To those for whom Christ's life was given.
