Schoharie Man Commits Suicide

     Channing Barton, 73, a retired Schoharie cattle dealer, committed suicide about 6 A.M. Friday, Nov. 27, 1964, at the home of a brothor on the Barton Hill road, where he had lived for the past few years.
     State police said that Barton, who was found dead in a chair, shot himself in the head with a 20-gauge shotgun.
     Mr. Barton had been a cattle dealer in the area for many years and upon retiring moved to the home of his brother, Roy Barton. He was born at Delanson.
     The Rev. Jesse James, pastor of the Esperance Methodist Church officiated at services at 1:30 P.M. Monday at the White Funeral Home, Delanson. Burial was in the Old Stone Fort Cemetery, Schoharie.
     Besides the brother mentioned, he is survived by another brother, Floyd Barton of Mt. Dora, Fla., and several nieces and cousins.
     State Police Investigator R. T. Wayand and Troopers P. C. Borra and R. W. Weyland investigated the case.
