February 18, 1932
Charles B. Dutton, former merchant in New York, but
for many years retired, died suddenly Thursday morning at his home on River street, aged 89 years.
Mr. Dutton was one of thirteen children and was born in the town of Broome where he spent his early life. Then with his brother, the late Asa S. Dutton he went to New York city where both obtained employment as clerks in a retail business. Later they bought a business of their own and were highly successful. After the sale of their interests in New York they came to Middleburgh and took up their residence on River street.
He is survived by one brother, Alberto M. Dutton of this village, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 from his late home, the Rev. F. J. Ball of the M. E. church officiating. The body was placed in the vault in the Middleburgh cemetery, later to be buried in the family plot on the old homestead by the side of his father and mother.
