Mrs. Christina Hummer Storey, 75, widow of John H.
Storey, died at her home on West Road Wednesday. She was the daughter of the
late George and Margaret Goetz Hummer, both natives of Germany.
Born in Schoharie, N. Y., Feb. 6, 1884, she had just observed her 75th birthday anniversary last month. Coming to Bennington as a young child, she had attended the local schools. Practically all of her life had been spent here with the exception of five years when she was located in various points in New York state. She and Mr. Storey were married at the Old First Church Nov. 29, 1911 and had since resided on West Road. Mr. Storey, who died seven years ago, was with the Fillmore Farms personnel until the division of the unit into Fairdale and Fillmore Farms.
Mrs. Storey had enjoyed collecting old dishes and was skilled at crocheting, also as a seamstress. She had endeared herself to many in her long residence here.
Survivors are one son, George; one daughter, Margaret; a sister, Mrs. Anna Brown and a nephew, George Hummer, Concord, N. H.
Friends may call this afternoon and evening at Walbridge Funeral Home at their convenience.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 2 p. m., from the funeral home with the Rev. Canon Norman B. Godfrey, rector of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, officiating. Entombment will be at Park Lawn Vault and burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery in the spring.
