Civil War Veteran Dies At Schoharie
June 23, 1927

     George Payne, one of the few remaining survivors of the Civil War, died Thursday morning at his home in Schoharie on Prospect street, after declining in health for some time. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at his late home at 2:00 o'clock, the Rev. J. H. Mac Connell officiating, and burial in the Lutheran cemetery. he is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter.
