Henry J. Coons obituary

February 1931

Henry J. Coons of Delanson, a native of Broome, died suddenly at his home Tuesday in his sixty-ninth year. He had been to the station Tuesday morning to deliver milk and upon returning shoveled snow from his lane. He then drove the team to the barn and told the men to unhitch them as he did not feel well. He went into his house and laid down. A few minutes later he died. Mr. Coons was a hard working man and followed farming throughout life. About twenty-five years ago he moved from Broome to Delanson. He had many friends and was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America. He was married three times, his first wife being Miss Lillie Foland of Fulton, the second Mrs. Alida Pierce of Fulton and the third Mrs. Lena Robinson of West Fulton, who survives him. He is also survived by seven children, Arthur and Ella of Delanson, Eva and Adelbert of Esperance, May and Carrie of New York City and Nellie of Cobleskill, a sister Mrs. Frank Mitchel of Binghamton, and a brother, Lewis Coons, of Huntersland. Funeral will be held from his late home Thursday at 1 o'clock, with interment at Breakabeen.
