Manford Zimmer death notice

Manford Zimmer
Schoharie Man Takes Own Life on Son’s Farm
June 1925

Manford Zimmer, 60, a retired and well to do farmer of Schoharie, committed suicide Saturday at the home of his son, Orlo Zimmer, of Gallupville. His body was found hanging from a tree back of his son’s barn.
Mr. Zimmer had been assisting his son at haying all morning. Shortly before noon he complained of a headache and told his son he was going to the house to rest. When Orlo came in from the field he asked for his father and was informed that he had not been seen.
A search was started immediately in and about the house and the body was found swinging from a limb of a tree. It is believed he was temporarily deranged from the heat.
The tragedy recalls the fact that Mr. Zimmer’s father Marner Zimmer committed suicide in the same manner in Gallupville 15 years ago.
Mr. Zimmer is survived by a widow and three sons, Orlo and Avery of Gallupville and Burton of Schenectady.
