Simon Decker Jr.
Portrait & Biography

Born in 1807 in Deckertown, Sussex co., NJ, a place named for the great-grandfather
of the Simon Decker in this portrait & biography.
Simon (b. 1807) was son of Simon Decker Sr. and Margaret Snook.  Simon Sr. was
born 1768 & died 1813 at Deckertown, Sussex co., NJ.
Margaret Snook b. 1770, d. 1838 in same place.
Simon Jr. had a brother Sidney S. Decker and they were in business together.
Simon (b. 1807) came to Havana, NY (now Montour Falls) in 1833.
Eventually bought land and the old Bowers Mill and named an area
east of Montour Falls Deckertown, NY with the Deckertown Falls.
Simon Jr. married in 1832 to Jane Crowell of Sussex co., NJ who died in 1852.
One of their children, Hiram Decker, also lived in Havana, NY.
Married 2nd in 1869 to Hannah E. Badgley (dau of John of Watkins,NY).
By Hannah, a son Simon Decker III was born.
