L. M. CONKLIN
Montour, NY
His Scots-Irish ancestors came to American c.1700 and
settled
on the Hudson, in Orange co., NY. His grandfather
was Capt. David Conklin,
a Rev. War soldier who was part of Gen. Sullivan's
army
during the campaign against "Indians" of Western NY,
incl. Schuyler county area.
His maternal grandfather was named Donahue, a major
in the Rev. War
who settled in NY City. L. M. Conklin's maternal
great-grandfather
was Gen. Pike who was killed at the battle of York
(Toronto) in the War of 1812.
L. M. Conklin was son of David Conklin who was born
in
Chenango co., NY on Jul. 16, 1809. The mother
of L. M. was nee Miss Hill
and she was born in NY on Dec. 24, 1813.
David Conklin was also a lawyer, but never had a law
practice.
L. M. Conklin was born Mar. 26, 1838 in Licking co.,
Ohio.
L. M. became a lawyer (Otterheim Univ.) and lived
in Westerville, OH.
In 1865, he moved to Missouri until 1874.
He was U. S. Commissioner until 1874. Then he
moved to Havana, NY.
