To all to whom these presents shall come, George McClure Sheriff
of the County of Steuben sends Greeting whereas by virtue of a writ of
Fieri Facias issued out of the Court of Common pleas of Steuben County
tested the seventeenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and eighteen at the suit of Samuel S. Haight to me directed
and delivered commanding me that of the goods and chattels lands and tenements
of Justus Bennett in my Bailiwick to levy Eight hundred and Seventy six
Dollars & fifty six cents. I have seized and taken all that piece or
lot of land bounded on the north by the road that crosses the outlet of
the little Lake in the town of Wayne on the East by the land of John S.
Bennett on the south by land occupied by James Lee on the west by lands
belonging to Ralph Swartwout & Justus Bennett being a part of the twelve
hundred acres of land known by the name of the Conet tract in township
number five in the first range in the county of Steuben Containing by estimation
one hundred & fifty acres of land more or less: the premises hereby
described is the same or part of the same lands which is described forth
in an advertisement in the Patriot of Jany. 26th 1818 And whereas the said
premises with the appurtenances since the service by me made by virtue
of the said Writ of Fieri Facias before mentioned have been exposed to
sale on the eleventh day of March last at Public Vendue and purchased by
John S. Bennett of the town of Wayne in the aforesaid County for fifty
dollars – cents being the highest sum that was bidden there for now know
ye that I George McClure the Sheriff aforesaid by virtue of the said writ
of Fieri Facias aforesaid to me directed and delivered as aforesaid and
by virtue of the Statute in such case made and provided, and for and in
consideration of the said sum of fifty dollars – cents to me in hand paid
by the said John S. Bennett the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge
Have granted bargained, sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and
sell unto the said John S. Bennett, his heirs and assigns forever: the
said piece or parcel of land with its appurtenances and all the Estate
right title and interest which the said Justus Bennett of Right had of
in and to the same on the twenty second day of January in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighteen or at any time thereafter.
To Have and to Hold the said piece or parcel of land with its appurtenances
unto the said John S. Bennett his heirs and assigns forever, as fully and
absolutely as I the said George McClure Sheriff Sheriff as aforesaid might
could or right to bargain and sell the same by force of the statute aforesaid
and by virtue of the said writ of Fieri Facias or otherwise. In Witness
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this eleventh day of May in
the year of our Lord one thousand and eight hundred and eighteen.

me Daniel Cruger one of the Masters in Chancery in and for said State came
George McClure Sheriff of the County of Steuben the grantor within named
known to me and acknowledged that he executed the within deed for the uses
and purposes therein expressed, Let it be Recorded.
