BATH | Bernard R. Allard, 71, of Campbell, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003 at the Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital.
He was a retired machine trade teacher for BOCES.
Survivors include, his wife, Germaine Martin Campbell Allard of Campbell; five sons, John Allard of Germany, Arthur Allard of Templeton Mass., William Allard of Beaver Dams, Timothy Allard of Dundee and James Allard of Caton; three stepsons, Michael Campbell of Campbell, Patrick Campbell of Tyrone, Steve Campbell of Macedon; a stepdaughter, Myra Campbell of Bradford; a brother, Fred Allard, of Anderson Ind.
Calling hours are 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Seager-Jones Funeral Home, 4 E. Washington St. Bath.

CAMPBELL | Bernard R. Allard, 71, formerly of Bradford and recently of Campbell and Holiday, Fla., passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2003, at Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital, Bath, NY.
He was born August 1, 1932 in Georgetown, NY to John W. and Ruth Lansing Allard.
Bernie was a Navy veteran of the Korean War from 1951-55. He was a retired machine trade teacher for BOCES after 22 years of service. He was a member of the Lamoka Lodge Masons #463 of Tyrone, NY; former Bradford Volunteer Fireman, Bradford Town Board, Bath American Legion, Bradford Boy Scouts, and Camp Commissioner of Camp Gorton.
Bernie is survived by his wife, Germaine Martin Campbell Allard; five sons, John "Jack" (Annelene) Allard of Germany, Arthur (Keri) Allard of Templeton, Mass., William (Cynthia) Allard of Beaver Dams, NY, Timothy (Wendy) Allard of Dundee, and James (Wendy) Allard of Caton, NY; four step-children, Myra Campbell of Bradford, NY, Michael (Brenda) Campbell, NY, Patrick (Sandy) Campbell of Tyrone, NY, Steve (Jacqueline) Campbell of Macedon, NY; one brother, Fred (Marge) Allard of Anderson, Ind,;eight grandchildren, Sarah Allard, Erin Allard, Jennifer Allard, Christopher Allard, Jacob Allard, Michelle Allard, Madeline Allard, and Abigail Allard; seven step-grandchildren, Joshua Campbell, Eric Campbell, Michelle Campbell, Alexandra Campbell, Thomas Campbell, Matthew Notarfonzo, and Michael Notarfonzo, and several nieces and nephews.

Spencer D. Bailey
TYRONE | Spencer D. Bailey, 84, of 3061 Mill Street, Tyrone, passed away Friday, May 21, 2004 at his home.
He was born May 2, 1920 in the town of Tyrone, the son of Edson and Lettie Disbrow Bailey. Spencer has worked for the former Kleckler Juice Plant in Dundee, Ingersoll Rand in Painted Post and retired from Seneca Foods in Dundee 22 years ago.
He was a member of the Lamoka Lodge #463 of Masons for the past 60 years, and a past Master. He was also a member of the Schuyler County Lamp Pool, Crystal Valley Grange and the old Wayne Methodist Church, a past member of the Wayne Village Baptist Cemetery Board, and an assessor for the town of Tyrone for many years.
Surviving are his wife Natalie Gleason Bailey; sons, Richard (Mildred) Bailey, John (Linda) Bailey and Harry (Roberta) Bailey, all of Tyrone; sister, Ramona Sebring of Bath; 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Howard Bailey of Dresden.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the LaMarche Funeral Home of Hammondsport, where a Masonic Service will take place at 5 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Jason Thompson will officiate and interment will be in Tyrone Cemetery. The family will provide their own flowers, memorials should be made to the Tyrone Fire Dept. or the Tyrone United Methodist Church.

Dundee, Jan. 21—The funeral of Mrs. Lewis Boyce was held from the home of her son, Clifford Boyce, at Wayne this afternoon at 1 o’clock. The Rev. Mr. Packard was in charge of the services and interment was in the Tyrone cemetery. Mrs. Boyce’s death occurred Sunday evening. She was 86 years of age and had spent most of her life here. She was born October 30, 1918 in Addison, NY, daughter of Charles and Ethel Potter Hoyt. Alice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all.
Alice was the wife of Clyde L. Bulkley Sr. who predeceased her in 1990.

He was a fourth-generation dairy farmer and worked for the Tyrone Highway Department until his retirement in 1997.
Survivors include his wife, Naomi C. DeCamp; a daughter, Cathy J. Fairbanks of Bath; a brother, Harold DeCamp Jr. of Big Flats; a sister, Eleanor Dykes of Bradford.

TYRONE | Leon H. DeCamp, age 74, of County Rte. 23, Dundee, died Monday, December 13, 2004, at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Elmira, NY.
There will be no prior calling hours. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Saturday (Dec. 18) with a Fireman's service at the Altay Baptist Church, Altay, with Pastor Evelyn Emerson officiating.

Mr. DeCamp was born October 2, 1930, in the town of Tyrone; the son of the late Harold and Muzetta McNeil DeCamp. He graduated from Dundee Central School, class of 1948. He married Naomi C. Lyle, on May 23, 1953, at the Altay Baptist Church. A life long resident, Leon was a 4th generation Dairy Farmer until he accepted a position on the Tyrone Highway Dept. in 1987. He retired in 1997.
Mr. DeCamp was a member of Altay Baptist Church, the Lamoka Masonic Lodge 463 F&AM, an active Life Member, past Chief and Treasurer with 52 years of service to the Tyrone Fire Dept.; he was a past President of the Schuyler County Fireman's Assoc., and a former member of the Tyrone Grange, and had served as a Tyrone Town Councilman. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, refinishing antiques, and also spent countless hours performing maintenance and grounds keeping at the fire house.
He is loved and will be missed by his wife of 51 years, Naomi C. DeCamp, at home; a daughter, Cathy J. Fairbanks, of Bath; a brother, Harold (Martha) DeCamp, Jr., of Big Flats; a sister, Eleanor Dykes, of Bradford; 3 grandchildren, Jonathan M., Christina M., and Zachary M. Fairbanks, all of Bath; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Shirley Malloy, in 2002.

Miss Belinda Smith
DUNDEE, Aug. 12 -- Miss Belinda Smith, one of the oldest residents in this vicinity, died at the home of her niece, Mrs. William Florence, a few miles west of this village, about 9 o'clock last night, at the age of 88 years.  Miss Smith was the oldest and last surviving of a family of ten children, and was born near the hamlet of Altay, December 16, 1822.  She had resided all her life in this immediate section, and for the past four years had made her home with Mrs. Florence.  She had no nearer relatives than several nephews and nieces.  Burial will be made Sunday.

The Dundee Herald of last week records the death of Fletcher M. Heald of Tyrone. Mr. Heald resided formerly in this county. He was one of the original directors of the Sodus Bay and Corning railroad. He died at the age of 51.

BRADFORD - Sylvia J. Howard, age 65, of East Lamoka Lake Road, Bradford, Town of Tyrone, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family. Sylvia was born March 24, 1935 in Corning, NY the daughter of Norman & Ruth Glover - Heverly. She married the late Billy D. Howard on August 16, 1952 in Corning. He passed away July 24, 1997. They had lived locally since 1988, previously of Logansport, Ind. where she had been a 13 year employee of the auto part manufacturer “Modine or Coolers” and a member of the Riverview Wesleyan Church.  A loving mother and grandmother, she is loved and will be missed by 3 sons: William D. Howard of Watkins Glen, Richard A. Howard and Kenneth H. (Keila) Howard all of Tyrone; 2 daughters, Ruth Ann (Demetrius) Graf-Keegan of Tyrone and Janice M. (Larry) White of Bath; 1 brother, Norman Heverly Jr. of Corning, 1 sister, Dorsay (Charles) Kraus of Tyrone; 10 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.   She was predeceased by a brother, Edward H. Heverly in 1996.

"BD" was born May 1, 1956 in Logansport, IN, the son of the late Billy D. and Sylvia J. Heverly Howard. He graduated from Logansport High School in 1974. He was a dedicated and faithful 10-year employee of Chef's Diner, in Montour Falls. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed bowling and fishing, and in his younger years playing baseball with his brothers.
He is survived by 2 brothers, Richard A. Howard, Kenneth H. (Keila) Howard, both of Tyrone, 2 sisters, Ruth Ann (Demitrius) Graf-Keegan of Tyrone, and Janice M. Dillon-White of Penn Yan; 5 nieces and 5 nephews; 3 great nieces and nephews; several aunts, uncles, and cousins in NY and Indiana.

Richard Wesley Huey
Richard Wesley Huey, 62, of Waneta Lake died at home, Tuesday 20 Oct 1998, after more than 6 ½ year illness.
Friends called Friday (Oct 23) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water St, Dundee. A funeral service was held Saturday (Oct 24) at Tyrone United Methodist Church; with Pastor Hyun Joo Yasng officiating. Burial at Tyrone Union Cemetery.
Dick was born in Bath, NY to the late Helen Van Liew and L. D. Huey on 06 Sep 1936. He grew up on the family farm between Tyrone and Bradford, NY
In 1954, Dick graduated from Bradford Central School as valedictorian of his class. He served proudly in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 through 1958. When he returned home he met Katherine Stewart and they were married in Bath, on 15 Jul 1961. They operated a dairy farm at Rock Stream, NY from 1963 until 1971. He became a substitute rural mail Carrier for a few years along with farming. In 1971 he was appointed Postmaster of the Rock Stream Post Office. He served there with much dedication until 1992 when he became paralyzed from cancer and had to retire.
Dick has been a faithful, active member of Tyrone United Methodist church all his life; singing in the choir and helping were ever he was needed. He is a descendant of the VanLiew family who was the founders of the church. He was a long time member of Tyrone, Pomona. State and National Grange. He served on the Dundee Central School Board for several years, was an assessor in the Town of Reading, and was on the Schuyler Co. ASC committee. This last year he served on the planning board in the Town of Wayne.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Stewart Huey at home, two sons, Richard Jr. and wife Beverly of Columbia, MD, and David F. and fiancee Jackie Persichilli of Hammondsport; grandchildren: Kristin R. and Kathleen A. Huey of Himrod, and Lauren N. and Jacob S. Huey both of Columbia, MD; brothers: Wilmer and Wife, Dorothy, and Raymond Huey of Bradford, Frank and wife, Carol of Ridgway, CO; he is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Elnora Huey Losito in 1980 and Velma Huey Ray in 1992 and his granddaughter Colleen Nicole Huey on 17 Oct 1998.

Helen A. Tharrett
TYRONE | Helen A. Tharrett, 76, of Wagner Rd. passed away suddenly Monday November 10, 2003 at The Schuyler Hospital.
She was born December 29, 1926 in Rochester. Her husband Ashton J. Tharrett passed away in 1981.
Helen worked for Fasco in Rochester and then retired from Westinghouse and Philips Lighting in Bath, N.Y.
Surviving are her Sons Dayne (Kathi) Tharrett of Clifton Springs and Warren (Barbara) Tharrett of Bradford, N.Y.; daughters Margo (Roger) Hinsdale of Spring City TN. and Karen (Charles) Murray of Macedon; sister Vera Allen of Barrington, N.Y.; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was a devoted Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother.
Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the LaMarche Funeral Home, 35 Main Street, Hammondsport. Funeral Services will be at the funeral home Friday at 11 a.m. Rev. Babs Steinert will officiate and Interment will be in Tyrone Cemetery.

Walter S. Malloy
ALTAY | Walter S. Malloy, age 89, of Route 226, died Thursday, November 14, 2002 at Schuyler Hospital in Montour Falls, NY.
Mr. Malloy was born April 24, 1913 in Tyrone, NY. A life long local resident, he was a former employee of Elmira Bridge and the Dept. of Public Works for the Village of Watkins Glen. He will be best remembered for his love of Steam Engines and his traveling amusement rides. He was a member of the Montour Falls Moose Lodge.
He is survived by 3 sons, Ray W. (Frances) Malloy of Elmira Heights, Gary G. Malloy of Canandaigua and Gail S. (Sue) Malloy of Horseheads; 3 daughters, Betty (Richard) Rogers of Slidell, Louisiana, Ellen Malloy of Elmira and Shirley (James) Woolwine III of Honey Brook, PA; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
There were no prior calling hours. A graveside service, in Tyrone Union Cemetery, will be held at the convenience of the family next summer. Arrangements are by the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee.

He was a retired foreman from International Salt in Watkins Glen.

Helen W. Porter
MONTOUR FALLS | Helen W. Porter, 102, formerly of Tyrone, passed away Friday, October 31, 2003, at Seneca View Nursing Facility.
She was born September 21, 1901 in Schuyler County, NY to William and Cora O. Oldfield Willover.
Helen was a member and Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star of Tyrone #612, and the Tyrone United Methodist Church. She had many hobbies including, gardening, tatting, quilting, crossword puzzles, and painting. Helen also taught antique chair stenciling and in earlier years operated a hat shop where she made and sold hats in Watkins Glen.
She is survived by two daughters, Cora Morehouse of Thurston, NY and Priscilla Cooley of Rochester, NY; one sister Emily (Kenneth) Pitcher of Hendersonville, NC; seven grandchildren, Ernest Cooley, Brian Cooley, Lawrence (Femka) Cooley, Suzanne (Bob) Manchester, Clark Morehouse, Paul Smith, Corinne (Roger) Daily; thirteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Porter in 1987.
Friends may call at Seager-Jones Funeral Home, 4 E. Washington St., Bath, NY on Saturday November 8th from 10:00-12:00 PM with an Eastern Star Memorial Service at 12:00 PM and the funeral service to immediately follow at 12:30 PM with Rev. He was born in Beaver Dams, the son of Harry and Rignhild Ericksson Stoddard. Franklin was formerly employed by Dalrymple Construction as a master mechanic and was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses.

 Mrs. Sarah Ann Smith, 85, widow of the Rev. C. D. Smith, former residents at 164 Oakwood Ave., Elmira Heights, died Friday morning, July 30, 1937 at Cortland.  She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. K. M. Walker of Jamesville, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Addie Ferenbaugh of Homer.  Mrs. Smith was a member of the Oakwood M. E. Church, Elmira Heights.  During the pastorate of the Rev. Mr. Smith, the family formerly resided in East Smithfield and Big Pond, Pa., Millport and Pine Valley, Ulster, Pa., Van Etten, Odessa, Canton and Mainesburg, Pa.  The Rev. Mr. Smith died Feb. 20, 1924.  The funeral will be held in the Beard Memorial Home, Cortland, Monday 10 a.m., Tyrone, N.Y. Cemetery.

She was a housewife. She co-owned and operated a dairy farm with her husband for 40 years in Dundee.
Survivors include a son, Roy W. Litteer of Dundee; two daughters, Laura F. Stewart of Desert Hot Springs, Calif., and Catherine E. Juozokas, of Longmeadow, Mass.; a brother, George Galek of Wolcott.

Mrs. Samantha Crawford mother of Mrs. Frank Van Duzer of this village died at her home in Weston Sat. Jan 28, aged 86 yrs. Mrs. Crawford was the last survivor of a family of ten children being a daughter of the late Caleb and Phoebe Swarthout of Wayne, Steuben Co. Besides Mrs. VanDuzer the deceased is survived by a step daughter Mrs. John Scofield of Mt. washing ton Steuben co. She was a frequent visitor at Montour Falls, where she had many acquaintances. The funeral was held from the family home Monday afternoon at one o'clock. Burial in Tyrone cemetery.

Hazel L. Wright
DUNDEE |Hazel L. Wright of 3831 Palmer Ave., Dundee, NY, died Thursday, September 11, 2003 at the Corning Hospital.
She was born in Corning, NY the daughter of the late Clifford H. and Helen Faiers Tuttle.
Hazel and Richard E. Wright were married in Howard, NY. A lifetime resident of the area, she had attended Corning Free Academy.
She had been employed with the A&P Co., Westinghouse, Corning Glass Works and retired from World Kitchen in 2001.
Hazel was the Matriarch of the Tuttle Reunion. She was completely a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a very hard working lady (at home and on the job). She enjoyed reading and the family states "she was a great cook."
Surviving are her husband Dick, Three sons; Richard (Michele) Wright, Duane (Ellen) Wright both of Corning, NY, and Darien Wright at home. Daughter, Patricia Ann Wright at home. Grandchildren, Dana (Suk) Wright, Misty Wright, Dustin Wright, Donavan Wright, Benjamin Stepp, Kelly Wright. Great Granddaughter, Hana Wright. Three sisters, Margaret (Tom) Kennedy of Bonita Springs, FL, Florence (Otto) Shaffer of Rathbone, NY and Carrie Tuttle of Elmira Heights, NY.
