Oren L. Swan: Oren L. Swan was born 1845 (calc. date comes up 1846/47-jac), son of John B. Swan, who was born in Chenango county and married Louise Fenton, by whom he had 9 children. All members of the Baptist church. Mrs. Swan's mother was the first white baby born in Tuscarora. Mr. (John-jac) Swan died in Addison 1888 and she resides (1895) at Tuscarora, being 67 years of age. Oren L's grandfather Allen* Swan (should be Orrin), one of the pioneer settlers of the county came from England, and took part in the Revolutionary War, being one of the officers. The family is noted for longitivity. Mr. Swan married Rebecca Gunn in 1873. He has always been engaged in farming, either in Tuscarora or Addison, and also makes a business of hay pressing.

Note says: "I was told by a desc. of Orin L & Rebeckah, that the Rebeckah with no dates on the stone was Orin's wife Rebeckah Gunn and that she lived to be 112 years old - born in 1848 died in 1950 that she had 3/4 Indian blood - they never had any children but adopted and raised many children.
