Sharpe were married on 16 Jul 1942 in Waddington, St Lawrence, NY.
Mr. & Mrs. Sterling S. Sharpe 50 Years. Madrid. Mr. and Mrs. Sterling
S. Sharpe, Sharpe Road, observed their 50th wedding anniversary Thursday.
The couple will celebrate the occasion today with a family dinner at
Pondersosa Steak House, Potsdam.
Mr. Sharpe, son of the late William and Martha Sharpe, and Ordetta M.
Klock, daughter of the late George and Edna Klock, were married July 16, 1942,
in the Waddington Methodist parsonage with the Rev. Leonard Russell officiating.
Attendants were the late Lydia Sharpe, sister of the bridegroom, and
the late J. Ronald Goldie.
Mr. and Mrs. Sharpe operate a dairy farm on the Sharpe Road.
Mrs. Sharpe is active in the Scotch Presbyterian Church, Chipman, and
the Madrid Rescue Squad Auxiliary. Mr. Sharpe is a pistol, rifle and shotgun
marksman.
The couple has seven children, Mrs. Donald (Alice E.) Grant, Fulton,
Mrs. Fredrick (Roberta A.) Wright, Potsdam, Mrs. Richard (Judy M.) Sitterley,
Higley Flow, Mrs. Terry (Martha M.) Billings, Canton, William G., Madrid, David
E., South Colton, and Mrs. David (Synthia A.) Carroll, Canton. They also have
11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. [Watertown Daily Times,
July 18, 1992]. Sterling Scruton Sharpe (son of
William Frank Sharpe and Martha Ann Scruton) was born on 31 Jul 1921 in Waddington,
St Lawrence, NY. He died on 12 Mar 1996 in Madrid, St Lawrence, NY.
His obituary appeared on 13 Mar 1996 in the Watertown Daily Times of Watertown,
Jefferson, NY, as follows: "Sterling Scruton Sharpe, Madrid,
Dies At 74. Madrid. Sterling Scruton Sharpe, 74, of 80-A Sharpe Road, died at
5 a.m. Tuesday at his home.
"The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fay G. Mann Funeral Home,
with the Rev. Janice P. Fife, pastor of Chipman Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Madrid Cemetery.
"Calling hours are this afternoon and evening at the funeral home, with
members of Madrid Volunteer Rescue Squad and its Auxiliary meeting at 7 p.m.
"Contributions may be made to Madrid Volunteer Rescue Squad or Madrid
Volunteer Fire Department.
"Surviving are his wife, Ordetta M.; two sons, William, Madrid, and David,
Potsdam; five daughters, Mrs. Donald (Alice) Grant, Parishville, Mrs. Frederick
(Roberta) Wright, Potsdam, Mrs. Richard (Judy) Sitterley, Colton, and Mrs. Terry
(Martha) Billings and Mrs. David (Synthia) Carroll, both of Canton; 11 grandchildren
and several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Everett, Madrid, and Frank, Canton;
two sisters, Irene Baird, California, and Mrs. George (Marion) Goodwin, Oneida;
and several nephews and nieces.
"A sister, Lydia Micklewright, died before him.
"He was born July 31, 1921, in Waddington, a son of William and Martha
Scruton Sharpe.
"He married Ordetta Mae Klock on July 16, 1942, at the United Methodist
Church, Waddington, with the Rev. Leonard Russell officiating.
"Mr. and Mrs. Sharpe owned and operated a dairy farm.
"Mr. Sharpe was a member of Norfolk Rod and Gun Club and Norfolk Pistol
Club and a former member of Boonville Rod and Club and Massena Rod and Gun Club.
"He was an avid hunter and fisherman and won several trophies for marksmanship."
He was buried in Madrid Cemetery, Madrid, St Lawrence, NY. Ordetta
Mae Klock and Sterling Scruton Sharpe had the following children:
