Evan Griffis
Evan Griffis arrived in America on June 1849 with his parents.
Evan E. Griffis was born 2 October 1842 at Bettws Efan, Cardiganshire County, 
Wales the son of James and Anne (Elias) Griffis (listed as a welsh pioneer)he was 
baptised 10 November 1842 at the Glynarthen Independant Chapel, Penbryn, 
Cardiganshire County, Wales.  He married Mary Lewis.
He died 28 April 1921 at Dekalb, New York. And was buried 30 April 1921 
in the Wayside Cemtery, Richville, New York.
Mary Lewis (listed as as welsh pioneer) was born 
3 September 1838 at Penbryn, Cardiganshire County, Wales the daughter of
Thomas and Martha (Evans) Lewis she was baptised 5 September 1838 at the
Glynarthen Independant Chapel in the parish of Penbyrn.  She died 19 January or 
June 1886.  And is buried in the Wayside Cemetery, Richville, New York.
They had a total of 8 known children all growing to adulthood.
2nd wife: Marcelia Allen they were married 19 September 1899 at Dekalb.

? married C.E. Beardslee living in Arcade, New York in 1921.
? married Chas. E. Edgerton living in Mohawk, New York in 1921.
? married Walter H. Howard living in Marcy, New York in 1934.
Martha J. was born 1863 in Gouverneur, New York.  She died
in 1940 and is buried in the Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur, New York.
John David was born 20 May 1873 in Gouverneur, New York.  Married Artie Briggs
26 September 1901.  He died 4 April 1934 in Gouverneur, New York and was
buried in the Wayside Cemetery, Richville, New York.
Elmer E. was born 1878 in Gouverneur, New York.  Married Margaret M. Gollaher.
He died 1961 and is buried in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Macomb, New York.
