Died. Taitt. Death of Mrs. Jas. D. Taitt. The death of Mrs.
James D. Taitt occurred at her home in this village Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock, after
an illness of five weeks of heart trouble. Her death was very sudden and quite
unexpected to her family and friends as she had appeared to be gaining steadily during
the previous week and her ultimate recovery was looked for.
James D. Taitt and Mary Bryant were married Sept. 2, 1874, at Lester, Mass. They
lived for several years at Stanley, N.Y., coming to Gouverneur three years ago. Three
children were born to them; a daughter and son survive to mourn the loss of a mother's
tender care, and to share with the bereaved husband in the deep sympathy which all
acquaintances of the family will extend to them in their loss. Mrs. Taitt also leaves a
father, brother and sister, residing in Spencer, Mass. The Presbyterian church loses a
devoted member, and her acquaintance a friend much beloved.
The funeral occurs this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence, corner Rock Island
and Rowley streets. (transcriber's note - I can only guess at the date of death since the
notices preceding this are from May 1894 and notices following are from Dec. 1894.

To blossom on this earth,
And shed its fragrance for a while,
That we might know its worth.
A little gleam of sunlight given
To gladden by its ray;

To point the Heavenly way.
A tie to bind our soul to Him
Who doeth all things well;
An angel for to pure for earth,
With Him has gone to dwell.
