Asahel6, son of Abner5 Hollister and Miriam Hurd, was
born in Litchfield, Conn., in 1795; he married Susan Horton, in 1823; she was born in Vermont, in 1802, and died April 10, 1837. He married 2d, Clarissa Hollister, daughter of Sherman P. Hollister of Woodbury, Conn., Dec. 4, 1837.

Asahel Hollister lived in Sullivan Co., N.Y., on a farm. He died Aug. 7, 1858. Children:

Sheldon H.6, son of Abner5 Hollister and Miriam Hurd, was born in Litchfield, Conn.; he married Melinda Crocker.

Hannah Marilla7, daughter of Asahel6 Hollister and Susan E. Horton, was born in Sullivan Co., N.Y., Jan. 24, 1824; married John C. Kewley, May 22, 1843. He was born in the Isle of Man, of Scotch parents, Sept. 14, 1814, and came with his parents to America when very young, and settled in Rensselaer Co., N.Y. He was a machinist most of his life, but worked at farming at intervals in New York, Iowa, and Alabama. He died May 29, 1884.

Horton A.7, son of Asahel6 Hollister and Susan E. Horton, was born in Sullivan Co., N.Y., April 8, 1826; married Hannah Abby Hanson, Jan. 2, 1856. She was born Feb. 27, 1833. He was brought up on a farm, and worked at the carpenter's trade from 1844 to 1855; went to Iowa, Oct. 5, 1852, and settled on a farm in 1856, in Wilton, Muscatine Co., where he still lives. He is a large and successful stock-farmer, making a specialty of fine breeds of cattle and horses. He has been township assessor and trustee, and during the Rebellion, was enrolling-officer in the time of the draft in 1861-62.

William E.7, son of Asahel6 Hollister and Susan E. Horton, was born in Sullivan Co., N.Y., June 29, 1830. He married Margaret Elizabeth Dubois, Dec. 27, 1855. She was a daughter of Tobias Dubois, a farmer of Bethel, Sullivan Co., N.Y., and was born March 3, 1834. They have no children. William E. Hollister is a farmer, and resides at Bethel, N.Y.

(1371.) Miriam7 Hollister (Crist).

Miriam7, daughter of Sheldon H.6 Hollister and Melinda Crocker, was born in Sullivan Co., N. Y., Sept. 11, 1816. She married Henry Crist, Dec. 29, 1834. He was born in Sullivan Co., N.Y., Jan. 8, 1811. In 1836, he moved to Marysville, Ohio, where he has since lived on a farm.

2818. Jane Emaline Crist, b. March 28, 1836; d. Oct. 19, 1837.
2819. Alexander Steritt Crist, b. June 18, 1838; m.
Elma Armstrong, Dec. 16, 1866. He enlisted
in the army as a private, and was wounded at
the battle of Stafford Court House, Va., April
3, 1862, losing his right leg below the knee.
He was discharged Sept. 11, 1862. He resides in Marysville, O.
2820. Abner Barclay Crist, b. Sept. 5, 1840. He was
a member of Co. A, 13th Reg't Ohio Vol. Inf.
He died in hospital, June 21, 1862, after the
battle of Shiloh, in which he was engaged.
2821. James Alfred Crist, b. Jan. 22, 1843. He was a
member of Co. A, 18th Reg't U.S. army (regular).
He died at Lebanon, Ky., from disease
contracted in camp, Dec. 20, 1861.
2822. Asahel Clark Crist, b. April 19, 1845; m. Lavina
Pocock, Aug. 21, 1872. She is a graduate of
Vermillion Institute. He was in Co. D, 136th
Reg't, Ohio National Guard, in summer of
1864. He graduated at Vermillion Institute,
Hayesville, Ohio, Oct., 1869. Also at Western
Theological Seminary, Allegheny, Penn.,
April 1872. Ordained April 1874. Has been
pastor Brown Presbyterian Church, Delaware
Co., Ohio, four years, and at Iberia six years.
Also a professor in Ohio Central College at
Iberia, Ohio, for last seven years (1883).

Armstrong, May 24, 1866. He died April 14, 1882.
2824. Anna Catharine Crist, b. July 12, 1850; d. Jan. 31, 1866.

Elizabeth7, daughter of Sheldon H.6 Hollister and Melinda Crocker, was born at White Lake, Sullivan Co., N.Y. in 1834. She married 1st, Lyman E. Burr, at Elgin, Ill., Nov. 14, 1855. He was born at Perry Center, N.Y., in 1833. He served six months in the army, but died at home from disease contracted in the service, July 20, 1862. He was a farmer. Mrs. Burr married 2d, Andrew Couse of Seneca, McHenry Co., Ill., July 17, 1870. He was born at Davenport, N.Y., in 1816. He is a farmer and resides at Woodstock, Ill. Children by 1st husband:

2830. Ellis M. Burr, b. Feb. 27, 1857; m. Nannie Glen
of Hillsboro, Ohio, April 20, 1881. He is a
machinist, and resides at Champaign, Ill. He has one child:

Asahel7, son of Sheldon H.6 Hollister and Melinda Crocker, was born in 1826; married Mary Jane Burton, Oct. 8, 1849. She was born in 1830. He is a farmer and lumberman, and resides in Cochecton, N.Y. Children:

James Nelson7, son of Sheldon H.6 Hollister and Melinda Crocker, was born at Bethel, Sullivan Co., N.Y., Feb. 22, 1823. He married Eunice Permelia Burr, Aug. 29, 1856. She was a daughter of Lyman Burr, and was born at Haddam, Conn., March 2, 1834. She died at Mt. Vernon, Iowa, Oct. 30, 1863.

James N. Hollister is a carpenter, and resides at Woodstock, Ill. Children:

Hannah7, daughter of Sheldon H.6 Hollister and Melinda Crocker, was born in Bethel, N.Y., Jan. 1, 1821. She married Jehiel Clark, Jan. 1, 1840. He was born in Thompson, N.Y., Feb. 20, 1817; is a merchant in company with his son at Bridgeville, N.Y.; is also engaged in farming.

2842. James A. Clark, b. Oct. 17, 1840; d. March 24,
1841.
2843. Daniel S. Clark, b. June 20, 1842; enlisted in
Co. E, 55th Reg't N.Y. Vol. Inf., of which he
was a sergeant at the close of the war; came
home where he remained until Feb. 20, 1866,
when he left for the territories in search of
gold. Not having sufficient health and
strength for the mines, he engaged in hunting
and trapping, and spent 12 years in the territories
and British America; returned home in
1879. Was married March 30, 1880. No
children.
+2844. Deborah M. Clark, b. Aug. 18, 1844; m. Austin Race, a farmer, Nov., 1868.
+2845. Asahel S. Clark, b. Oct. 8, 1846; m. Amanda Howes, Nov., 1871.
2846. S. J. Elizabeth Clark, b. Dec. 9, 1848; d. Oct. 5, 1858.
2847. Charles E. Clark, b. Aug. 29, 1851; d. Sept. 27, 1851.
+2848. Sarepta A. Clark, b. April 3, 1855; m. George
W. Hoyt, May, 1872. He is a justice-of-the-peace
and manager of a large creamery at
Monticello. For a number of years he owned
and ran a steam vessel between Melbourne,
Australia, and Japan. The steamer blew up
and many lives were lost.
2849. Cora E. Clark, b. Oct. 18, 1859.


Descended from Sheldon Hollister and searching for the last 30 years to find all of his descendants and his siblings descendants. All are children of Abner HOLLISTER and Miriam HURD who appeared in the Bethel area in 1800-1810.
