James Davenport Gorton - Member of the 143rd New York Volunteer Reg, Company C

He was born November 27, 1824 in Neversink.
He died on June 11, 1901 in Neversink. He is buried in Grahamsville.
He was married to Elizabeth Porter and had 9 children: Catherine Ann, Sylvester, William Henry, Myron Eugene, Emarissa, Alonzo A., Victoria B., Dora, and Ceduska.

He was wounded in the Battle of New Hope Church, GA when he took a bullet in his thigh.
