ACKER
Pat
Could someone tell me if Duck Pond is in or ever has been in Sullivan County? I am looking for info on my g g grandfather, Richard Acker. The following was in the Honesdale Citizen newspaper May 6, 1880:
Richard Acker removed from the vicinity of Duck Harbor pond, which lies in Damascus and Lebanon townships, to near Pike Pond, Sullivan Co., N. Y about three months ago and secured employment in a mill. A few days since he was asked for a piece of tallow to grease the saw. Instead of giving the tallow to his fellow laborer, Acker greased the saw himself. As he was turning to leave his right foot came in contact with the swiftly revolving saw, which in an instant threw him high in the air, cutting his right leg off at the ankle and again at about the middle of the calf, also inflicting a ghastly wound in the side of the left foot. The right leg was amputated below the knee and the patient is now doing well. If anyone knows of this mill or the name Acker, would you please e-mail me at Probets@aol.com. I would appreciate any information as to follow up on this further. Thank you.

SULLIVAN
Lt-Col C.S. Duff Sullivan
PO Box 4569, Stn Forces Cold Lake AB, T9M 2C2
I am trying to trace my ancestry. My ansestors immigrated to the USA from northern Europe with
the Pensylvania Duetch. My great-great-great grand-father, John Sullivan, and his two brothers, immigrated
from the USA to Ontario, Canada in the early to mid 1800s. A fourth brother remained in the USA. It is believed that John Sullivan was in the American Army before he left the USA. When he arrived in Canada, he settled a few miles east of Winchester Springs, in Dundas County in Ontario, Canada. John Sullivan had a son, Howard Sullivan.

SOULE(S)
Brian L.Altonen 1604 SE 41st Ave., PORTLAND OR 97214-5232
Looking for information on Soule(s) family history in Suffolk Co., probably Forestburg area. Alanson Soule and H(ubert) Soules, both noted in Dover, NY ca. 1830, are probably related (cousins/brothers?) Both appear in 1850 census as wooden shovel makers (for shovelling coal into the fire for a boiler?). Alanson/Lansing Soule mar. MaryAnn Butler (dau. Elizabeth, Micmac Indian, and Mr. ______ Butler), ca. 1843, Newfoundland/New Brunswick, probably at one of the Missionary churches associated with Micmac Indians. Removed to Forestburg area about 1844/5, soon after Metis rights became an issue in both Canada and the US. Lansing died soon after the Civil War. Mary Ann remained in Sullivan Co., near Livingston Manor, and then removed to Monticello ca. 1900, where she died ca. 1937 at either 96 or 102/103 years of age. Their son Jesse is my great great grandfather (b. ca. 1874); his baptism record undiscovered, his birth record lost in the county courthouse/clerk's office fire of the early 1900s; he removed to Poughkeepsie in the early 1990s, dying there about 1975 and was buried in
Poughkeepsie cemetery. Mary Ann's gravestone is at a church (Methodist?) in Monticello, but I have been unable to visit to search for it. Have much of the Alanson Soule family/Micmac history documented by interviews with a great aunt.
