Carmel Welsh Church Interior

Carmel Welsh Congregational Church
County Line Road and Findlay Road, Centerville, Allegany County, New York

The Carmel Welsh Congregational Society was formed in 1846. In 1847 they built a chapel or meeting house in Centerville, Allegany County, New York. The chapel may have looked something like this. The drawings are based on a description contained in the 1846 building contract at the Congregational Archives, Boston, MA. The Carmel meeting house is no longer standing. It is thought to have been destroyed by fire following a lightning strike ca. 1920s. Early burials made in the churchyard are now part of the County Line Cemetery.
