He was employed as a clerk at Anderson & Anderson, lawyers, of 15 Broad Street, and was a brother of Arthur Forbes, editor of the 'New Rochelle Paragraph' He lived at Fifth Street and Dewey Avenue, New Rochelle."

"Walter Forbes was a young Englishman who came to this country five years ago. For a short time he was employed by the Charity Organization Society, and then he became a stenographer of the firm of Anderson & Anderson of 15 Broad Street. He was unmarried, and recently he and his brother bought a house at Dewey avenue and Fifth street, New Rochelle, where they have been living with their mother and two sisters. His brother is the mendicancy officer of the Charity Organization Society."

"Mr. Forbes was to have been appointed a stenographer in the new Tenement House Department. It was on the recommendation of Edward T. Devine, General Secretary of the Charity Organization Society, that Mr. Forbes secured employment from Anderson & Anderson, and it happened yesterday that Mr. Devine himself was on the wrecked train, but in the third coach from the rear. As soon as he could get out of the car he went back to the wrecked coaches to do what he could for the injured, and when Mr. Forbes' body was taken out Mr. Devine identified it at once and after securing the proper permit had it removed."

Notes
Burial Notes:
One of the expenses included in the Estate Inventory for Walter Forbes was for an invoice from John Bowron, Yarm-Lane of Stockton-on-Tees, England, "for a headstone and lettering (with exchange)." Could a cemetery in Stockton-on-Tees, England, be where his ashes were sent for burial? If so, which cemetery? He may have been buried with his father. Further research will need to be conducted to verify this theory.
