History

Pleasantville is a village within the town of Mount Pleasant.

"The most northerly village in the township of Mount Pleasant is Pleasantville, on the line of the Harlem Railroad, about two and a half miles north of Unionville, and thirty-one miles from the Grand Central Depot, in New York City. The place was formerly known as "Clark's Corners." It is about equidistant from Bedford, White Plains and Tarrytown, being about eight miles from each.

Maps

Many town historical societies hold maps of their vicinities, including copies of the Sanborn insurance maps. Insurance maps were detailed to the point of showing each building on each street so that insurance companies knew what to pay the insurer in the event of fire or destruction. Be sure to inquire at such institutions as well as at local libraries.
