Archives from the National Library are sent to Archives New Zealand. Archives New Zealand sends relevant archives to its regional offices. The National Library also has New Zealand family history, Pacific nations and whakapapa resources.
The National Library and University of Auckland Library have online catalogues that use Telnet: netopac catalog and aucat catalog that may be accessed through the Kiwinet database.

The National Library - New Zealand Bibliographic Network (NZBN)
An online computer system which links most public, university, government and special libraries to a central bibliographic database. It supports libraries throughout New Zealand in their reference, cataloguing, interloan and acquisitions activities. NZBN includes an index of over 10 million books. Apply to the National Library of New Zealand for membership or ask your local librarian to perform a search for you.
The National Library - Index New Zealand (INNZ)
Provides a brief summary of the journals, periodicals, etc. that it has indexed. These are available locally at the University of Auckland Library.Te Puna Web Directory.
Access to the Reference Library is by subscription. You gain access to 7000 volumes and 200 periodical subscriptions on the subjects of New Zealand history and the management and administration of archives and records.
