Timaru - obituary - BLACKMORE -
Mr Joseph Blackmore, who has resided in the Timaru district for nearly 30 years, and was greatly respected, was found dead in his bed yesterday morning by his wife. An inquest will not be necessary.

The many friends of Mrs Carter, of the Makikihi, will regret to learn that her death took place at 10 30 on Sunday evening. Mrs Carter was one of the oldest settlers. She belonged to the parish of Ayton, Berwick. shire, Scotland, and came out to the colony with her husband in October 1881, making a home at Makikihi in 1863. Her husband died m 1868, and she had ever since lived with her family at their farm in the district named: The late Mr and Mrs Carter ware good and faithful servants to the late Mr Studholme, : Living so close to the main road the late Mrs carter's hospitality to travellers, especially in the early days of settlement, was widely known, and she never turned a "swagger" away from her doors. Her goodness to neighbours was also widely known, arid she was particularly fond of young people. She was an earnest supporter of the Presbyterian Church, and set an example to all about her that must have had a good effect. Her funeral will take place to-morrow, and will be conducted by the Rev. Mr Gillies. Mrs Carter leaves one son (Mr Andrew Carter) and five daughters, among the latter being Mrs Alex. Sinclair. (wife of Mr A. Sinclair, builder, late of Timaru), and Mrs F. Cullmann, wife of Mr Cullmann, of Timaru.

North Tawton, Devon, second son of J. Fowler-Hislop, Esq., of Castlepark, Prestonpans, N.B., to Margaret Mary Annie (Maithal) elder daughter of the late Angus MacDonald, Esq., of Waitui, Geraldine, N.Z.
RAPSEY - RAWSTORN. On December 7th at the residence of the bride's parents, Stafford Street, by the Rev. W.C. Woodward, William Charles, the second son of J. Rapsey, Pareora, to Maude Mary, eldest daughter of H. Rawstorn, late of Manchester, England.
STEPHENSON - GOOSTRY. At Registry Office Christchurch, on Wednesday the 7th inst. R.W. Stephenson, of Birdlings Flat, to Elizabeth Goostry, of Makikihi.
MARSHALL - MCCULLOGH. On the 8th Dec. at Rangitira, by the Rev. J. Dickson, assisted by the Rev. J.H. Elliot, James, third son of the late James Marshall, of Bridge of Allan, Stirling, Scotland, to Sarah, third daughter of Samuel McCullogh, of Rangitira.
FERGUSON - GRAY. On Dec. 21st at the residence of Mr W.E. Kinnerney, Timaru, by the Rev. William Gillies, William Ferguson, third son of Captain John Ferguson, Isle Of Arran, Scotland, to Jessie, second daughter of the late James Gray, Captain Royal Scots Greys.
ELLIOTT - GIBSON. At Timaru by the Rev. Wm. Gillies, Daniel Elliott, farmer, Sutherlands, to Mary Elizabeth Gibson, third daughter of William Gibson, County Roscommon, Ireland.
MCDONOLD - ORTON. At Pleasant Point, on the 28th inst, by the Rev. Mr Hamilton, Farquhar, second son of Mr Allan McDonald, of Woodbury, to Marion Jeannie, second daughter of Mr Reginald Orton of Pleasant Point.

COE. At Palmerston, on the 6th December, Gwendolyn Mollor, third daughter of William and Phoebe Coe, aged 2 years and 1 month.
HATHAWAY. At Timaru on Sunday Dec. 11th, William Bernard, the infant son of William and Edith Hathaway, aged 3 months.
BURNS. At Timaru on December 14th, Gladys Mary, the beloved daughter of Thomas and Mary Burns, aged 4 months.
DOUGLASS. AT his residence Timaru, on Dec.17th, Alfred Douglass, aged 54. Deeply regretted.
McBRIDE. On Dec. 24th, at her residence Theodocia street, Hannah, the beloved wife of Samuel McBride, aged 47. Deeply regretted.
MacPHERSON. On Dec. 26th at the residence of her daughter Mrs W.C. McDonald, Christchurch, Ann Helen, widow of the late Captain MacPherson, Strathnoon, Geraldine, in her 86th year.
VICKERS. On Dec. 26th, James Vickers, farmer, Sutherlands, aged 63.
