Located in the Pareora West Cemetery, Beaconsfield Road, Otipua.  First photo, 2007 - Photos by M.T. "Now we have gone further up Beaconsfield Road to the Pareora West Cemetery.  Very overgrown but monuments still stand proudly, including the Boer War Memorial. I was interested in a large stone standing at left side of cemetery. It commemorates a Wesleyan church built on the site in 1870. "

Daily Telegraph 27 September 1901, Page 3
Timaru, Last night. The memorial to the local troopers William Moffatt, T. L. Scott, and J. Butler, was unveiled in the Pareora cemetery this afternoon in the presence of a large gathering of settlers of the neighborhood. It consists of a marble column And urn of blue stone at the base, with a suitable inscription on the plate. It was chiefly provided by shilling subscription, every household contributing. The memorial was unveiled by Mrs A. S. Elworthy, and among the speakers were Major Crawshaw, Captain Bourne (to whose company the deceased had belonged), and Archdeacon Harper. The memorial was handed over to the cemetery trustees.
