Wellington Technical College   Jubilee Review   1886 – 1936

Unhampered in its origin by the mediaeval heritage of academic tradition, but, on the other hand, unaided by the benevolent care of heavily endowed ancestral institutions, the school struggled through its infancy, its strength excisting in its recognition of the fundamental requirement of human life – “the great need of life is not knowledge, but action.”
