All persons who died in Adams Co. Ohio between 1 Jun 1879 and 31 May 1880.
Transcribed and submitted by Scott Wiseman
The order of the information below is Name of deceased, age sex, condition (married or widowed or single), birthplace, father's birthplace, mother's birthplace, occupation, month of death, and illness.
I have omitted all persons under the age of 10. Children made up about half of the names. I have also omitted the columns for color and number of days ill. This information was very hard to read. You are encouraged to see the original which may be found on microfilm at the State Library of Ohio located 274 E. 1st Ave Columbus Oh 43201.
The only other difference is that these schedules were broken up into townships. I have attempted to put the names all together in alphabetical order. For one reason or another the census taker or someone later marked lines thru several entries. I have included these names but have no idea why they did this. There were probably 10 names or less that I just couldn't read. If I could make a guess I did.
The Adams co. courthouse suffered a fire and the death records were for the most part destroyed. The Federal Mortality Schedules provide a valuable source for at least some of those deaths. It is estimated that they were under reported by as much as 20%.

This transcription is dedicated to my 3rd great grandfather, Foster Mullis, who
was born in Adams County about the year 1810 and died September 10th,
1872. He married a midwife, Eliza Jane Doniphan. They had six
children, the oldest of which he gave to preserve the union. He farmed,
fell ill and died nearly a pauper.
