Biographical Statement


            David Adams taught sociology for thirty years until his retirement from The Ohio State University at Lima in 1995.  During his OSU-Lima career, David taught (with Helen Long) a course called Death and Dying for which he created a slide lecture, “What Headstones Reveal: Headstone Art and Changing American Attitudes about Death, 17th – 21st Centuries.”

David is active in Riverside North Neighborhood Association.  He was 8th Ward Lima City Councilman, serving two terms.  David is a cartoonist.  For more than ten years, he has drawn The Bean Family comic strip.  It appears on Lima utility bills to raise money for improvements to city parks

David is a movie buff and, since January 2001, reviews a movie every Friday on the WLIO-TV “First Edition.”  His reviews also appear weekly in The Lima News.  He has reviewed more than 500 movies.  Of them, David says, 436 were really rotten.
