RE: JENKINS/ROUSH

My name is Howard P. Roush lineage as follows: >Wilson Martin Roush of Lima> David Richard Jenkins Roush of Lima > Mary Jane "Tillie " Jenkins of Germantown and Lima b. in 1832, either Wales or Ohio >Evan Jenkins, d. circa 1848, and N?, died before 1848. Both Evan and N ? were born in Wales and lived in German Town. David Richard Jenkins was either David R. J. Roush's paternal or maternal grandfather. He may have been Rev. David R. Jenkins, Welsh Methodist Episcopal or Welsh Congregationalist Minister.

Children of Evan and N ? Jenkins were:

Twins b 1832 James and Mary Jane Jenkins. After the death of their parents all of the Jenkins children were distributed throughout the Lima area.

Mary Jane Jenkins lived with the John M Andersons. She married John Roush 28 Aug 1856 in Bath Township or Lima, Allen County . Mary Jane and John are my great grandparents.

James Jenkins b 1832 was taken by the Archibald Cunningham Family.

Elizabeth Jenkins b 1834 was raised along with Ann by the William Jacobs family. She married Samuel McClure.

Margaret Jenkins b. 183?, raised by the William Harper Family, m 1856 William H Jones of Gomer Township.

Eleanor Jenkins b 1837 stayed with the Benjamin Davidson's, m 1859 John McComb

Ann Jenkins m b 1840, stayed with her sister Elizabeth in the Samuel McClure household. m a Mr. Lyle and moved Kansas

William Jenkins b 1841 stayed at the James Houston home

David Richard Jenkins b 1845 was with Eleanor at the Benjamin Davidson's

In several letters I have received , the writers expressed the belief that John Anderson Archibald Cunningham, William Harper, Benjamin Davidson, William Jacobs and James Houston and or their wives were all related in some form to the Jenkins family. My aunts who remembered the Jenkins considered them as exceptionally good looking, having resources better than average family, inordinately strict, Calvinist, Methodist, speaking and reading Welsh... They were said to be related to Welsh farm families in Bath and Gomer.
