To walk to the cemetery park at the Y and follow the path along the “creek” to stairway up to the cemetery.
“Nilles Road at Hicks
Boulevard, Fairfield, OH. This one-acre historical site is the burial ground
of the city’s first settlers, with many burials taking place in the late
1700s. Early Fairfield area settlers, Celadon and Phebe Symmes and seven of

Heiser, Hamilton Ohio "On the Story Farm (1944) east from Symmes Corner; on a hill overlooking the meanderings of
Pleasant Run Creek. There is nothing to show how it was originally reached
nor does an entrance show today. Apparently begun as a family burial plot, it is now forgotten." Additional data

“According to history there are supposed to be 125 burials
in the Symmes burial grounds. Whether
or not each grave had a marker is unknown.
Since the land around the burials was pasture land after most of the
burials, it could be that the markers were knocked down by farm animals and
thus buried under the sod. The
Fairfield Township Trustees many years ago put a fence around the standing
few stones to preserve them.” |
