The cemetery has been cleaned out and tombstones straightened in the past few years by for a Boy Scout Project by a Mr. Murphy. The cemetery is subject to damage because of the trees and lack of a fence. The cemetery is not manageable without a fence to isolate the area and the surrounding over growth easily encroaches on the tombstones. Since this is a “private” cemetery and the cemetery is not grassed and fenced the township can not legally “take care” of the area. Families are responsible for tombstones in all cemeteries.
Photos and research been done by Caroline Huppi, Liberty Township resident.
