CELEBRATE CIVIL WAR 150!
Welcome all Civil War Enthusiasts! April 12 1861 marked the beginning of the American Civil War.
This date in 2011 will commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the beginning
of the War Between the States. To kick off this year long celebration next year,
the Public Library of Steubenville is holding a Program detailing Ohio?s involvement in the war.
The public is invited to attend. The event will be held Saturday October 2 2010 at the
Schiappa Branch of the Public Library of Steubenville. The event will be held in the Meeting Room
from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Speakers will be: Sandy Day, Local Historian/Genealogist
for Public Library of Steubenville, Charlie Green, Vice President of Jefferson County Historical Association,
Roger Micker, history teacher at Steubenville High School ?member of Gov Ted Strickland?s
Sesquicentennial Advisory Group 2011-2015. Come join us
and learn about Ohio Women and the many ways they helped to win this very uncivil War!
Also learn about President Lincoln?s visit to Steubenville. Roger Micker
is a Civil War Re-enactor so he will be dressed in uniform. We will also have Civil War artifacts on display.
