How to Post
Preparing a query is similar to preparing a newspaper classified ad; you want to attract attention and hold the reader's
interest to the end of the query. It is best to limit a query to one or two surnames; too many surnames become difficult
to follow. Since your query should describe someone who lived in Carroll County, Ohio, it is necessary to include this
in the text.
Remember, SURNAMES should be in CAPITAL letters, and first and middle names in lower case letters. This will
follow standard genealogy practice. Please identify dates as day/month/year, using the name of the month to eliminate
confusion. (Example: 3/4/1885; is this Mar 3, 1885, or 4 Apr 1885?)
Example:
Subject: Brown family
Surnames: BROWN
SMITH
Example of Text: Looking for
descendants of Jack BROWN, who married Julie SMITH in Allen Co., IN, 5 May 1830,
and moved to Carroll Co. around 1840.
However, if you are posting for someone who does not have email please include the name and postal address for that person.
