THE CRAWFORD COUNTY GENEALOGY SOCIETY HAS SOME RECORDS ON EMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, a two page newspaper article that appeared in The Galion Inquirer for the Diamond Jubilee. (This was xeroxed from Marguerite Boehm's scrapbook.) The church is not active, is located ca 1/2 way between Galion & Bucyrus and was referred to as the Olentangy Church.

The article says settlers came to this vicinity ca 1825-30. Amongst these we had John Albright, Jacob Tupps, Sam Parcher, J. N. Rexroth, Martin Kehrer, John Sherer, Peter Kile, Simeon Katcher and Christopher Beltz, Tobias Kile in 18_8; George & Mary Beech in 1832, Peter Cook in 1834. (not all these people were members here) Rev. Johannes Krauss, who resided at Bucyrus, was the founder and 1st pastor (part missing) then -

It will no doubt be of interest to know who were present at this 1st meeting, Adam Sherer was the lst one who dipped his pen in ink to sign important church document. Then follow in order: John Sherer, Tobias Kile, Christopher Dinkel, H. Helfrich, Nic. Helfrich, Mike Helfrich, Peter Dingeldein, George Mollenkopf, Christ Sch__fer, Peter Bietsch (Beach), Daniel Groh, John Marquart, Christian Kuhn, Wendel Helfrich, Tobias Nungesser, David Schrick & Peter Helfrich. The lst communion service of this newly organized church was Sept. 29, 1850 with Rev. Krauss.
