May 21 7:00 Chapter Meeting:  Gale Martin portrays Mrs. Charles Hahn, wife of Dr. Charles Hahn.  The doctor was also a Marion County Auditor, son of Abraham and Julia A. (Earnst) Hahn, who came to Crawford County in 1828.  Charles passed his early life in Bucyrus and acquired his education in the schools of that place and in Granville College, of Granville, Ohio. He began reading medicine in 1850 under Dr. P. E. Rupp, with whom he spent two years and a half. He practiced in Crawford County till 1867, when he moved to Three Locusts, Marion County, where he continued his professional work till 1880, when he was elected to the office of Auditor. Awards ... The OGS Awards began in 1996 for work completed in the 1995 Chapter year.  To date we have won:

Outstanding Chapter Award in 1996 – in 2003 – and in 2004.
Outstanding Officer Awards in 1996 by Treasurer Winnie Kleinknecht, in 1997 by President Mary Fox and in 2004 Winnie and Mary were honored as Co-Chapter Officer’s Award
Outstanding Chapter Volunteer Award in 1996 by Carl Shumaker for all the cemetery publications and other work; in 1997 by Jean Gifford for her work on Obituary File;
The Genealogy Teacher Award in 1997 by Joe Blum (the only time we have won this special award)
Honorable Mention Award in 2000 to Esther Wagner for her work on the Obituary File;
Chapter Volunteer Award in 2002 to Rachel Miller for her outstanding work with the Obituary File
Best Books Award in 2002 two of our books won in their category for Liberty Remembers Veterans and Servicemen/Women of Crawford County Ohio and Rural and One Room School in Crawford County Ohio.

We are honored to receive these awards – Thank you very much to the Ohio Genealogical Society. There are always so many qualified people every year to consider.  Our Society also has many other additional hard working volunteers whose work is remembered by us and who are winners in our opinion.
