The Cleveland District Round Table is a discussion group of the leadership of the genealogical societies in the five-county district which includes Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, and Medina. It meets twice a year, May and October to exchange information on the happenings within their organizations. Some of the groups represented at these meetings, in addition to the Ohio Genealogical Society chapters, include religious, nationality, ethnic, locality, and computer interest groups. Saturday 27 June 2009 9:30 am African American Genealogical Society, Cleveland will hear presentations - Dr. Judith Cetina of the Cuyahoga County Archives and William Lewis on "Hospice Care"

Thursday 2 July 2009 10:00 am Lake County Genealogical Society will have very special guest Claire Prechtel-Kluskens, genealogy specialist and archivist for the National Arhives and Records Administration in Washington D.C. speak on Researching at the National Archives and other Washington DC repositories. This will be in preparation for those going on the bus trip to Washington August 10-13, but all are invited and encouraged to attend.

Monday 6 July 2009 7:00 pm East Cuyahoga Genealogical Society holds a potluck dinner. "Skeletons in the Closet: How to get the Dirt without Rattling your Relatives" will be presented by Sunny McClellan Morton, writer, editor and public speaker specializing in family and heritage topics. Her work frequently appears in Family Tree Magazine.

Thursday 30 July 2009 5:30 pm Cynthia Turk and a Special Guest will take on the challenge of "Ask the Genealogist" at our annual picnic at Perry Community Center, co hosted with Perry Historical Society. Come prepared with tableware, dish to share and a question about your genealogy research problem. No ancestor names will be used, just the research question! Lake County Genealogical Society will host this event. We will be celebrating our 35 years as an OGS chapter with cake and fun.

Monday 10 - Thursday 13 August Washington D.C. calls Lake County Genealogical Society and guests for a four day - three night visit. The DAR library, the Library of Congress and the National Archives will be places you may select to visit. There will be a night bus tour of Washington as well. A brochure is here. Wednesday - Saturday 14-17 October 2009 The CzechoSlovak Genealogical Society International (CGSI) will hold its next Genealogical and Cultural Conference in Cleveland at Holiday Inn Independence. Keynote speaker will be John Grabowski, and there will be other speakers on genealogical, cultural and historical topics. There will be folk arts and folk dress exhibits, an on-site library, sales room, music and dance performances, bus tours and other special events. "One Man's Search for Civil War Gravesites" presented by Harold George, Civil War reenactor and 1st Lieutenant with the 9th Ohio Light Artillery.
