ATKINSON, SUSANNAH  (submitted by E. Ann Newman)

April 27, 1836

Whereas I Susannah Atkinson of Clark County in the State of Ohio, being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory, and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make ordain constitute and appoint this and no other to be my last will and Testament. And principally and first of all I recommend my soul into the hand of that divine being who gave it, and my body unto the earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent orderly manner at the discretion of my Executors. And as touching such worldly estate that I am blessed to possess at the time, in the following manner after all my just debts & funeral charges are paid, to wit, I give and bequeath to my two granddaughters Phebe W. Atkinson, and Hannah (?) Atkinson my two feather bed bolsters pillows and pillow cases exclusive of the bed clothing. I give and bequeath to my son Robert M. Atkinson my mantle clock. I give and bequeath to my daughter Margaret Oren, my candle stand. I give and bequeath to my two granddaughters Mary Ann and Sarah Willis, my silk cloak and two silk habits. I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth five dollars. I give and bequeath to my son Isaac Atkinson my bureau. It is my will that all the balance of my household kitchen furniture and moveable personal estate, outstanding debts and otherwise, including the estate of my sister Elizabeth Sheward dec'd, I being the sole heir at her death, shall be divided equal shares between my children as follows, namely, Cephas Atkinson, Robert M. Atkinson, Margaret Oren, Thomas Atkinson, Isaac Atkinson, and my daughter Phebe Willis' four children to have one share equal with one of my last five children mentioned, that to be divided between them equal shares, and all of them that lives to the age of twenty one years, and I furthermore do appoint constitute and ordain my two well beloved sons Robert M. Atkinson, and Thomas Atkinson to be my only and sole executors of this my last will and Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty seventh day of the fourth month in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty six.

David Allen's Will

Know all men by these presents, that I David Allen, being weak in body but sound of mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament as follows.

First I give and bequeath unto my mother Phebe Allen one hundred dollars.

Second I give to my brother George Allen one undivided half of the blacksmith shop and East half of the lot I purchased of William Jackson, also one half of the tools and Iron on the same and one unfinished Buggy.

Third I give to my brother Aaron Allen the west half of the above mentioned lot with the building thereon and one undivided half of the above mentioned blacksmith shop tools and iron in the same, also one unfinished buggy, the first choice and one silver watch the said watch at the death of my brother Aaron is to be the poperty of my brother George or his heirs.

Fourth I give to my Father Aaron Allen the residue of my personal property after paying all my just debts, whom I hereby appoint my sole executor of this my last will and testament In writing whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twelth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four.

David A. Knott's Will

Be it remembered that on the fourth day of August A.D. eighteen hundred and fifty one, it being the August term of the Court of Common Pleas of the County of Clark and the state of Ohio, before James L. Forbert President Judge and William G. Lewiss,........, and Oliver Clarke his associates judges of said court, the last will and testament of David A. Knott late of said County deceased was produced for probate which will is in the words and figures following to wit:

I David A Knott of the County of Clark in the state of Ohio do make and publish this my last will and testament in the form and manner following=

First and principally It is my will that my beloved wife Ann Knott shall remain in full possession of all my real and personal property during her natural life after paying my funeral expences, costs and charges and all my just debts by me owing that she may from time to time when she shall feel able assist any of our children in pecuniary matters she may think they stand in need and may make an account of the same against each individual to be accounted for by them respectively after her decease. It is my will that my said beloved wife after my decease apply the proceeds of the property thus bequeathed to schooling our children and for the support and comfort of our family according to her sound descretion. It is my further will that the land which I own in Iowa be  divided to any of our children in such shares and valuation as may be agreed upon, to be accounted for by them in the divisionof my estate after the decease of my wife.

In testimony hereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fourteenth day of February eighteen hundred and forty six A.D. I nominate my beloved wife Ann Knott executor of my Will.
