TIMOTHY BAILEY (descendant: Joanne Rabun)

Timothy BAILEY Sr. Son of Richard BAILEY II & Rachel PAGE. Born 16 Jun 1751 in Haverhill, Essex Co., Massachusetts. Died 19 Sep 1825 in Harmony Twp., Clark Co., Ohio.  Timothy Bailey (Bayley) resided during the Revolution at Grafton Co., New Hampshire. He was a private and ensign. Private in Captain Bedel's Company and Captain Samuel Young's Company, June 1, 1775-Jan. 1777. He served as Ensign in Captain Whittier's Company Feb. 1780 until Dec. 1780. Went out as a Volunteer to the Battle of Bennington. He took his pension in Clark County, Ohio, August 1819. (Source: Rev. War Section W. File 4137 dated May 16, 1923 (Washington, DC). He married Zerviah BLODGETT, daughter of James BLODGETT & Sarah SNOW, 11 Jan 1778 in Plymouth, Grafton Co., New Hampshire. Born 13 May 1759 in West Nottingham, Hillsborough Co., New Hampshire. Died 27 Mar 1852 in Harmony Twp., Clark Co., Ohio. Children as listed in 1825 will of Timothy Bailey (Clark Co., OH). She received a Widow's Pension    

John Craig (descendant Shelley Edwards)

John Craig born  15 Feb 1758, Concord, NH and died 24 Mar 1838 Clark County, Ohio.  Enlisted 1775 and discharged 1780. He is buried at the Fletcher Chapel Cemetery.  He married Mary Skillings

James Craig (descendant Shelley Edwards)

James Craig: born 1753 in NH and died 20 May 1829 in Clark County, Ohio also at Fletcher Chapel. Enlisted in Concord, NH in 1777 as a private. Discharged at West Point 1780. Applied for pension in Clark Co., OH May 11, 1818. He married Rhoda Waters

William Davis  (submitted by Phillip Fazzini )

William Davis, Middletown N.J. Born 3/11/1754. Of Monmouth County, New Jersey, Line 2 Years. Moved to Washington County, Pennsylvania, (2 years). Moved to Harrison Co Virginia and resided 38 years. Moved to Pike Twp Clark Co ., Ohio. Pensioned 8-8-1832. Applied for pension in Clark Co., Ohio 10-4-1832. Pensioned 1833.  Ref S 16097 N.J. Report by State DAR.

Note the above was summarized from entries on pages 116-117 of 1938 "Official Roster of Soldiers of the American Revolution who lived in the State of Ohio" (DAR Publication). Also note-that this entry on pp.116-117 (Listed under Clark County) is repeated on page 117 as "Davis, William, Shelby Co." This entry is incorrect-the Shelby County Ohio was William Forest Ray Davis (vital dates b.2 Dec 1760-d.12 OCt 1837) a resident of Turtle Creek Twp Shelby Co Ohio. Last note-a Shelby County Ohio descendant of William Davis confirmed he was a resident of Springfield -not Shelby County-Ohio.

Henry Dawson (descendant: Janice Hill)

Henry Dawson, b. 1747 or 8 in Montgomery Co., Md. He enlisted in Captain Benjamin Harrison's company, Sept. 6, 1777, of the 13th Virginia Regiment (recruited from West Augusta Region, now Pennsylvania). On Oct. 31, 1778 he was commissioned ensign and regimental quartermaster and transferred to Co. John Gibson's company, and probably went to Ft. Laurens, the ill-fated Ohio fort. On June 8, 1779, received rank of lieutenant. He apparently served through the end of the war in or near Ft. Pitt, and ended his service April 8, 1783. He lived in KY for about 20 years, then moved to what is now Clark Co. around 1804. He is buried at the Asbury M.E. Chapel Cemetery with no real gravestone, just a marker from the Sons of the American Revolution. I have lots more info if anyone cares.

Robert Layne (descendant: Sherrell Buchanan)

Robert Layne was born July 11, 1758, in Goochland County, Virginia. He was the son of Ayres Layne and Mary Woodson. He died in Clark County, Ohio, April 22, 1845, and his body was removed from a family burial plot to Ferncliff Cemetery, in Springfield where he shares a grave with his son-in-law George McCullough. Robert's wife was Elizabeth Randolph and they were married in Albemarle Co., VA on November 15, 1792.

Robert was a private and was drafted in Goochland Co., VA in the spring of 1779. His company commander was Capt. Jolly Parish and his captain was Nathaniel Massie of Goochland, a person to him well known. Robert left home in early spring and was discharged at harvest time. He removed from Goochland to Albemarle Co. in Virginia where he was married. He lived 20 years in Albemarle County after being in the service; then moved to Kenawha where he lived for about five years; then moved to Clark County, Ohio where he lived until his death. A Mr. W.M. Harris said in a paper delivered at a pioneer meeting held near Emery Chapel: "In the first house north of Possum Road lived old Mr. Lane. All knew him as 'Grandaddy Lane.' He was a soldier in the Revolution, and the only one I ever saw. The boys from Possum School used to go to his place for apples. The trees had grown from seeds and the apples were sweet." Robert and Elizabeth (Randolph) Layne had the following children: Lewis, Elizabeth (who married George McCullough), Susan (who married John Kirkpatrick), James, Sarah (who married a Swanngen), Woodson, and Mary(who married William Fowler).

Jeremiah Priest  (descendant: John Laird)
Jeremiah Priest was born in 1755 in Culpeper Co., VA, served in the Revolutionary War for two years, married Emelia "Millie" Gardner in 1781. They moved to Bourbon Co., Kentucky about 1794, and on to southern Ohio about 1800, ending up in Pike Township in Clark County by 1814, where Millie died in 1837 and Jeremiah in 1840.
Jeremiah's pension claim (S-8980) indicates that he enlisted in the Army from Culpeper Co., Virginia at the end of February 1779, served two years as a private under Col. Francis Taylor, John Roberts, and James Purvis, and was stationed in Albemarle County during the war, where he guarded prisoners. He also served in Winchester, Virginia.  Jeremiah's will lists thirteen children, and orders them in age by men and women: eldest son, Obadiah; eldest daughter Anna Clark (deceased); second daughter Mary Clark; third daughter Agnes Flin wife of John Flin; fourth daughter Bashaba Mock, widow of Frederick Mock, deceased; fifth daughter, Cassander Foster; sixth daughter, Elizabeth Smith (wife of David Smith); seventh daughter Phebe Howell, wife of Jeremiah Howell; eighth daughter Millie Conner deceased; second son Elijah Priest; third son William Priest; fourth son Jeremiah Priest; and fifth son, John Priest.
