Ellen ZURFACE, daughter of Oliver C. and Rebekah ROGERS, was born at Rome,
Adams County, Ohio, December 7, 1844, and quietly passed away at the home of here
daughter, Mrs. Elijah Plymire of near Wilmington, on the evening of July 12, 1912, aged
67 years 7 months 5 days.

She was the tenth child of a family of eleven children all whom have preceded her to the
better world excepting one brother, Robert Rodgers, of near Highland, and three sisters,
Mrs Potts, of Sisterville, West Virginia, Mrs. Grant, of Vanceburg, Kentucky, and
 Mrs Brownlee, of Highland, Ohio.

In 1860 she was united in marriage to Thomas Drake. To this union was born four
children, three of whom survive their mother. Of these, only one, Mrs. Addie Rinehart, of
Greenfield, is permitted to be present on this occasion, the others being prevented by
distant residence.

In 1874 she came to Clinton County, locating at Sabina, Ohio, and in 1875 was married to
 Samuel Zurface, living the remainder of her life in this vicinity. This union was blessed
with five children, three sons, John, George, and Charles, and two daughters, Margaret
and Eunice, all of whom were present to pay their final respects to a loving and most
devoted mother, and who are mourning to-day the loss of a kind and indulgent one who
was ever ready to render to them any service which would contribute to their comfort and
happiness. She was a kind and obliging neighbor and her presence was not denied
whenever she could be of assistance.

Early in life, she joined the Methodist Episcopal church, and the conversion that she then
sought and found was to her a solace and a comfort throughout the years of her life, and
especially did she find it a fortifying grace in her last illness which she bore with patience
and resignation, though painful and trying, expressing her willingness to go and assuring
her loved ones that she was ready to meet her Savior, her only regret being the separation
from  her dear children.

During the last days of her sickness while the taper of life was slowly but surely flickering
out, her only thoughts were of her Savior and children whom she admonished to be good
and live lives that would meet with the approbation of Him, into whose arms, sooner or
later, all shall be folded by and by.

While she was in declining health for more than a year, the rather sudden termination of
her life was altogether unexpected, her illness assuming a malignant form about four
weeks ago when on a visit with her daughter. She leaves to mourn her loss eight children,
30 grand-children, and 12 great grand-children, one brother and three sisters.

Though you have suffered an irreparable loss and oftentimes will long for the “touch of
the vanished hand, and the sound of the voice that is still,” however, in the deep anguish
of your hearts at this hour you should find consolation in the fact that all the service that
an attentive physician and your loving hands, assisted by kind neighbors, could give, was
 unsparingly rendered ad while absent from you, in the land of the redeemed, she awaits
your coming.

The poet has beautifully said, That

Mother was tired and weary,
Weary with tears and pain;
Into sweet rest she has entered,
No more to sorrow again.

Over her bed the green grasses,
Soon will so lovingly creep;
Out ‘mid the daisies and clover,
Mother has fallen asleep.

Rest the worn now forever,
Dear wrinkled hands are so still;
Pulselesss is the heart that no longer
Sorrow can quicken or thrill.

Years will glide over her gently,
facing the shadow and deep;
Drive back the tears, would you wake her?
Mother has fallen asleep.

Oh, beautiful for the weary,
Beautiful rest for the true;
Laying so peacefully ever,
Under the sunlight and dew.

Floats through our hearts strings a
quiver, Like death a whisper so sweet;
He giveth to his beloved,
And mother has fallen asleep.

 CARD OF THANKS

We desire to extend out thanks to all those friends, who extended a helping hand, during
the sickness of our beloved mother, to H.L. Littleton for his efficient and kind method of
conducting the funeral, to Rev. Laird, who officiated at funeral. Each and every one have
our heartfelt thanks.

THE CHILDREN.
