Dena Kakoliris
    Mrs. Dena Kakoliris, 78, of Middletown, Ohio, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 17, 2001, at her home in Birmingham, Ala. She graduated from Middletown High School and Middletown Business College. She was employed as a secretary to the president of Aeronca until her marriage to Peter Kakoliris of Birmingham. Mrs. Kakoliris was preceded in death by her husband, Peter; her parents, George and Georgia Eliopoulos; and her brothers, Arthur and Peter Eliopoulos. She is survived by her son, George Kakoliris, daughter Joanne Fogle, and granddaughters Christine and Constance Kakoliris, all of Birmingham; her brother, James Eliopoulos, and her sister, Mary Kucer of Middletown, and her sister, Adrianne Gaspar of Cincinnati, Ohio. She was very active in her church and in her work with the sick and elderly and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She was a charter member of the Middletown Chapter of National Secretaries Association and member of the Daughters of Penelope and GOYA.
    ARRANGEMENTS: Visitation was held Monday, March 19, at Holy Trinity Cross Cathedral in Birmingham, Ala., from 4:30 until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. today, March 20, at the church.

Tony Ellis Obituary.
    Tony Ellis, 81, of Kettering, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2001. He served as a lieutenant with the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. Tony was the owner of the Carpet House on Wilmington Pike in Kettering for 30 years before retiring in 1985. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Nina; a son, Stephen Ellis of Morristown, Tenn.; four daughters, Mary Ann Ellis of Dayton, Barbara (James) Trehearne of Seattle, Wash., Nikki Burns (Bob Feldmann) of Kettering and Delores (Tom) Minor of Lexington, Ky.; three brothers, Harry (Beatrice), Charles (Janet) and James (Harriet), all of Dayton; two sisters, Mary Craft of Cleveland and Connie (Sam) Mellas of Dayton; and seven grandchildren, Nicole and Nisa Trehearne, Michael Burns, Angela Ellis and Eleni, Callie and Anthony Minor.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 500 Belmont Park N., Dayton, with 9:30 a.m. prayers in the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.

Nick D. notes: Charley Elles (Charley Ellis) 33  Greek   Proprietor  Restaurant residence315 (you were unable to read the street but you said it was next to S. Clinton)is probably Vail but it might also be 1st Street.  he restaurant portion of the City Directory for 1919-20 lists the Elles Bros restaurant at 315 E. 3rd St. I also have that transposed to the new address as 1219 Central Avenue.  At any rate, the restaurant was not far from his residence.

Nick D Note: The Elles Bros restaurant at 315 E 3d and the Charley Elles address at 315 (unreadable) looks suspicious.  Could the residence of Charley Elles also be E 3rd?  Could he live above the restaurant? Of course 12 other people have that same 315 address, so that supposition is doubtful.

Nick D. Notes: Steve and Charley Ellis (note spelling) from Mitylene were both in the restaurant profession.  In the 40s and mid 50s the Ellis brothers lived across the street from Thalia Thomas on Crawford Street (a block from Mary George's grocery store).  Steve Ellis had a large family and was a cook at the Eureka Restaurant on Main Street until it closed.  Uncle Charley (as he was known in the neighborhood) never married and did not work during this time. Mrs Ellis. and Mrs. Comminos were sisters. Tony Ellis married Nina Thomas.
