Pete and George Lambesis were Mrs. Politz's brothers. The
Lambesis brothers purchased the Horseshoe Bar across
the street from my dad's store. They were closed on
Sunday; Pete and a black employee early in the morning
began cleaning the Horseshoe Bar. They would finish about
one p.m. Pete would then come across the street
and get his shoes shined. I never saw George Lambesis on
those Sundays.

as the crow flies, for the road possesses many curves)
Occupation 1930-1950: caterer and salesman of a) quality
cookware (he also demonstrated) and b) custom made men's
suits. Married to a devout Catholic who lived a secluded
life in the Crawford Street area and never associated with
Greeks much less with anyone else. Children: Alice who
married Angelo Sciannamblo (also of Crawford Street). Alice
died abt 2000. Son who practiced law in Cincinnati (never
met him)
Steve Lazaron catered yearly Christmas and Thanksgiving
dinners for the poor and homeless of Middletown. This event
was sponsored by the Middletown Civic Association. Steve Lazaron was written up yearly by the Middletown Journal for
this charitable work. He related many stories to the
Journal reporters about his early life in Constople as chef
for the Sultan at the Topcapi Palace, etc, etc.
Around 1950 Steve Lazaron sponsored his sister's daughter
Maria to come to the US and attend American schools. His
niece later married Nick Georgeopoulos.

Likiarthis Applegate
Mrs. Helen Applegate, 78, formerly of 509 S. Main St.,
Middletown, passed away Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at 7:05 a.m.
at Garden Manor Retirement Village where she had resided for
five months. She was born on Nov. 26, 1921, in Middletown,
Ohio, and had lived here all of her life. She graduated from
Middletown High School and Middletown Business College.
Helen was employed as a secretary at Aeronca during World
War II. She then worked as a secretary to Jack Casper at
Casper & Casper Law Offices and later was a sales
representative for Olan Mills. She had also worked for the
Blue Ball Tastee Freeze, which was owned by her family. Mrs.
Applegate was a member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek
Orthodox Church. She was preceded in death by her parents,
Allie (Jones) and George Likiarthis; her first husband,
Edward Warden Lee; and her second husband, Harry Thomas
Applegate. Surviving are a daughter, Linda Applegate of
Middletown; three sons, Jack Lee, and his wife, Barbara,
William Applegate, and his wife, Dawn, and George Applegate,
all of Middletown, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Becky
Thompson, and her husband, Scott, of Monroe, and Crista
Applegate, Casie Lazier, and her husband, Ron, and Jason and
Ryan Applegate, all of Middletown, and George Applegate Jr.
and Danny Applegate; six great-grandchildren, Tyler
Applegate, Morgan, Rachael and Jessie Thompson and Cayla
Lazier; and one expected great-granddaughter.
ARRANGEMENTS: There will be no visitation. Graveside
services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, at Woodside
Cemetery, with the Rev. Doctor Christos B. Christakis
officiating. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
MEMORIALS: Memorial contributions may be made to Sts.
Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 2500 Grand
Ave., Middletown 45044. Arrangements are by Herr-Riggs
Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown.

LOGUS, Cleo V. (nee Vradelis) Age 71, of
Washington Township passed away Friday, January 14,
2005 at Miami Valley Hospital. Cleo was a member of
the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Dayton.
She taught in the Kettering and Centerville School
systems as a voice teacher for 10 years.
Cleo was past producer at the Miami Valley
Communication Council and was volunteer of the year in
1993, winning many awards. She is preceded in death by
her parents, Nathaniel and Anastasia Vradelis. Cleo is
survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Paul J.
Logus Sr.; and 2 sons, Paul (Carol) Logus, Jr. of NY
and Nathaniel Lee (Kay) Logus of Boston, MA. Funeral
services will be held Tuesday, 12:00 noon, January 18,
2005 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 500
Belmonte Park North, Dayton with Father Mark Emmroll
officiating. Family will receive friends Monday from
4-8:00 PM, with Trisagion Prayers Monday evening at
7:00 PM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 6 Oakwood Ave.
at Irving. Burial in David's Cemetery. Following the
committal service at David's Cemetery there will be a
