    Bernice W. COMBS Allen, 96, formerly of Hamilton, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2004, in the Middletown Regional Hospital.
    She was born on Jan. 28, 1908, in Manchester, [Clay County], Ky., the daughter of Marion and Alice (Hoskins) Combs.
    She received her education in the Kentucky public schools. On June 16, 1928, she married Edwin Kash Allen in Hamilton, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 1976. Mrs. Allen joined the First Baptist Church in 1932, and had been a member for 72 years.
    She was a devoted wife, caring mother, enjoyed gardening, and was a very giving person. She had also been employed by the Champion Paper Co., and the ammunition factory at Kings Mills during World War II.
    Mrs. Allen is survived by her children: David M. Allen and his wife Brenda of Middletown; Darrell R. Allen and his wife Pennie of Hamilton, Constance S. Taylor of Hamilton, and Edward K. Allen and his wife Marian of Hamilton; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Oscar, Cloyd, and Obel Combs, and a sister, Cleo Rogers.
    ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Monday, March 29, at the Webb Noonan Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South D Street, with Dennis M. Metzger officiating. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Rev. Elzie ALLEN
, age 74 of Middletown, Ohio passed away Monday, December 4, 2006 at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born December 17, 1931 in Breathitt County, Kentucky. Elzie served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Elzie was the pastor at Pentecostal Deliverance Church and The House of Prayer. He was a set-up man for 37 years at Raymond Bag/Champion Paper Company retiring in 1986. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geniveve Allen in 1993; father and stepmother, Edgar and EvaLee Allen; son, Paul Timothy Allen; brothers, Charles and Herbert Allen; sister, Mary Collett. He is survived by his daughters, Anita Gail Lehman (Rick) of Beavercreek, OH and Regina Lynn Eckart (Dennis) of Middletown, OH; grandchildren, Brandon, Marissa, Hailey and Luke; brothers, Willie Allen of Whitesburg, KY, Junior Allen of Jackson, KY and Lee Allen of Campton, KY; sisters, Irene Overbee of Richmond, KY, Pauline Nelson of Litchfield, KY, Adien Stevens of Peebles, OH and Phyllis Wall of Richmond, KY. Visitation will be Thursday, December 7, 2006 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at Baker-Stevens Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Friday, December 8, 2006 at 10:00 am at Baker-Stevens Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Houston and Rev. Walter Lamb officiating. Elizabeth ''Lizzie'' ALLEN, age 91, of Franklin, OH passed away Sunday, March 26, 2006 at Sycamore Hospital. Lizzie was born in McKee, KY on August 22, 1914 to George and Julie (Hillard) Hurley. She was preceded in death by her husband Freely Allen in 1974; 3 brothers, Thomas, Howard, and John Hurley; 4 sisters, Rose Hemmingson, Betty Angel, Lucinda Angel, and Mary Catherine King. Lizzie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who gave of her self unselfishly. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Middletown. Surviving are a son Wesley H. Allen and wife Cheryl of Kettering; a daughter Dorothy Carolyn Bobst of Franklin; 1 granddaughter Lori Swagler of Hamilton; 5 great grandchildren, William Gene Russell, Erica Ruark, Samantha, Connor, and Chris Swagler; a sister Clara Wolfe of Centerville; a sister-in-law Ruby Hurley of Middletown; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are Thursday, March 30, 2006 at 10am at Anderson Funeral Home, 1357 E. 2nd St., Franklin, OH with Rev. Robert Armstrong and Rev Travis Hudson officiating. Burial will be in Miami Valley Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.

Sophia ALLEN, age 75 of South Lebanon passed peacefully on Sunday, July 2, 2006 at her home with her family at her side. Born in Clay County, Ky., April 6, 1931, the daughter of Kenus and Nannie (Stidham) Baker, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She had lived in South Lebanon since 1950 and was a Charter Member of the 350 Pentecostal Church of God and had been active with the Stubbs Mills Pentecostal Church and the Deerfield Rd. Church of God. She had worked at the Kettering Hospital for several years and was retired from the Otterbein Retirement Community following twenty nine years of service as a devoted employee. Preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Larry Wayne Allen; sisters, Oma and Thelma Allen and Mae Baker. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of fifty nine years, Willie Allen of South Lebanon; sons, Danny Allen of Florida and Benny Allen of Morrow; daughters, Louise Ramsdell of Lebanon and Wallace Allen of South Lebanon; brothers, Elmer, Raliegh, Dan and Wallace Baker, all of KY; sisters, Flora and Aline Allen, and Rosalie Wass, all of South Lebanon and Phyllis Baker of Lebanon, eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Visitation was Wednesday evening with funeral service Thursday, July 6, 2006 all at the Deerfield Rd. Church of God, Lebanon with burial in the Deerfield Cemetery, South Lebanon. The family requests memorials to the Kidney Foundation or to Hospice of Cincinnati. Arrangements by Stine-Kilburn Funeral Home, Lebanon.
