Death of James Gordon
James Gordon, until recently, a member of the police force of this city died suddenly while on the Third street bridge, Saturday night.  For some time he has been affected with heart trouble.  Saturday evening he, as usual, went out for a walk.  He was sitting on the curbstone near the bridge when he became faint.  Those near him helped him to arise, and procuring a chair he was seated thereon and Dr. Smith called.  After giving him attention it was thought that he would be able to be removed home after a short time.  He thus remained there, with an attendant; fanning him.  His breathing was very difficult, and all at once, with a gasp, he fell back dead.  He was then removed to his home, where, in the midst of a sorrowing family of eleven children, the body was prepared for burial.
Mr. Gordon was 44 years old, was well known here, where he has lived for a quarter of a century.
His Funeral will take place from the M. P. church tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock.
