SUICIDE
George Huff One Of Middletown's Well Known Citizens Takes His Life
At 3 o'clock this afternoon George Huff committed suicide in the cellar of his residence on Third street.
At that hour a shot was heard by the people in that neighborhood and inquiry was made.
His son and others went in the direction whence the sound emanated and found the man with a bullet in his head. He was covered with blood and motionless in death.
Constable Langdon was summoned and with Mr. Leisenhoff and others went into the basement where the man lay and viewed the remains.
The constable then telephoned the coroner who will be here about 5 o'clock.
The family and friends were shocked to hear of the rash act and as he had no trouble of any kind known to them, it is believed to be a case of wandering of the mind or temporary aberration.
Rumors, of course, are rife on the street to the effect that some one may have killed the man, but these rumors are given no credence by either friends or the family..
Chief Dearth says that the man was dead some hours when found at 4 o'clock, that the blood was dry on his face which indicated that he had been dead some time.
The man in fact, had been acting queer for some four months and the family were distressed about him, but did not anticipate his proceeding to take his life.

THE PEOPLE ASTONISHED
When They Read The Report Of The Death Of George H. Huff Last Night

The notice of the sudden death of Mr. George H. Huff as printed in the News-Signal last night was read with much surprise by the people of this city who knew M. Huff and the people generally are in sympathy with the family.
The report that Mr. Huff was attacked was erred as false. There is nothing to it. The facts are that the last time Mr. Huff was seen was about fifteen minutes after twelve o'clock noon Friday. He did not come down to dinner and the opinion is he died soon after that time. For the past three months Mr. Huff has worried considerable since the death of his son Edwin three months ago, but there were no outward signs to warn his family of danger or even to make them fear that something would happen.
The funeral will be private. Interment in Woodside cemetery.

YOUNG MOTHER DIES SUDDENLY EARLY SUNDAY
Private Funeral Service To Be Held Tuesday Morning

Giving birth to a daughter one week previous, Mrs. Mamie Huff, 25, wife of Warren Huff, of 20 North Leibee Street died Sunday morning at 3:30 o'clock.
Scarlet fever and other complications followed the birth of the child and it was while the young mother was being removed to Middletown Hospital as a last resort to save her life that death occurred.
The condition of Mrs. Huff during the week had marred the joy of her last born, the family for days keeping constant vigil at her bedside.
Born in Middletown, Mrs. Huff was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas LaFayette, well known residents of this city. She received her education here and was regarded as a lovable young woman and an ideal mother.
Two weeks ago Mrs. Huff's aunt, Mrs. Charles LaFayette died, the double sorrow in the family making her death more acute.
Besides her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom LaFayette, and her husband, Warren Huff, she leaves four children, Barbara, Warren, Jr., Joanne and the one-week-old baby, Gloria Jeanne; one sister, Mrs. Irene Verdady, of Cincinnati, and tree brothers, Gilbert, Gordon and Tom LaFayette, of Middletown.
Private funeral services will be held at the Baker funeral home Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock. Burial will be made in Woodside Cemetery.
