CHARLES MAIN IS KILLED
By Freight Train Just After Dinner Today Son-In-Law Of Hiram
Brate Here
Just after noon today Mr. Hiram Brate of the Middletown
News Company, received a phone message from his daughter,
Ms. Charles Main from Franklin, that her husband Charles was
killed on the Big Four railroad about 12 o'clock by a
freight.
Mr. Brate at once went to Franklin.
The story comes from Franklin as follows; Charles Main 45
years of age with a wife and three children who live on
River street, was standing near the tracks of the Big Four
railroad watching the approach of the northbound freight
train that was last seen of him until the train had passed
when he was found killed, his body horribly cut up.
No one seems to know whether he tried to board the moving
train or whether he stood too close to the tracks and was
knocked under the wheels and killed.
