Martha Jane NEWTON, 96, of Monroe, died Sunday, June 26,
2011, at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village. She was born in Middletown,
Ohio on February 6, 1915 to parents John Thomas and Minnie (Adrion)
Williamson. Martha was the great-great granddaughter of Daniel Doty, and
the last survivor of the Hulda Doty Family in the Middletown area. She
was a Life member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Delta Khi Sigma
Sorority, the Women's Guild, Senior Citizens, Middletown and Monroe
Historical Societies, Butler County Genealogical Society, and Pilgrim
Edward Doty Society. Mrs. Newton graduated from Middletown High School
in 1933 and was employed for 45 years as a payroll clerk at Crystal
Tissue and was an avid bridge player. Mrs. Newton is survived by her
sister-in-laws, Mary Lou Williams, Margaret Phillips and Dennie Newton;
brother-in-law, Thomas Allen and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 55 years
Joseph Newton; grandparents, Adam and Louise Adrion; brother, Adrion
Williamson; half-sister, Harriett Williamson Albert. Funeral Service
will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 11:00 am at
WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown
with Dr. Dan Flory officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service
from 10:00 - 11:00 am. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery. Memorial
donations may be made to M.A.N.Y., 225 Keeneland Ct., Monroe, OH 45050.
Mt. Pleasant Life Care Fund, 225 Britton Lane, Monroe, OH 45050. The
family wishes to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at
Mt. Pleasant and Senior Independence Hospice for their care of Martha.
