| SATTERFIELD, Josie Marie Gibson Age 81, passed through this earth to meet her husband of fifty-nine years, Henry J. Satterfield, Jr. in Heaven, on Sunday, May 21, 2006 at Ft. Hamilton Hospital Vitas Hospice Unit at 7:30 AM. She was born in McKee, Kentucky (Jackson County), on July 28, 1924 the daughter of Coltz and Laurie (Angel) Gibson. Josie came to Hamilton to find work in the early 1940's, working a number of years at Continental Can; she was a devoted homemaker, wife, and mother for years before returning to work at Miami University, from which she retired in 1982. Josie met the love of her life, "Junior," during World War II. They were married in Hamilton on March 28, 1946 and settled in Hamilton. As husband and wife, they were inseparable until his death on February 6, 2004. Josie enjoyed gardening, shopping, spending time with family and friends, and always loved her church activities. She was a devoted Christian since the early 1960's who attended Eaton Avenue Full Gospel Church and New Beginning Tabernacle. Josie was kind, thoughtful, and protective of all those she knew throughout her life, and her faith in God sustained her throughout her adult life. She is survived by her only child, Anna Marie Roberts and her husband Walt of Wayne Township; her only grandson, Joshua Douglas Roberts; her brothers, Raymond Gibson and his wife Ruby of Detroit, Michigan; Richard Gibson and his wife Gladys, Arvel Gibson and his wife Gloria, and Troy Gibson and his wife Sherry, all of Hamilton; a sister, Helen Huff of Hamilton; special sisters-in-law, Bernice Gibson and Sue Gibson, both of Hamilton; a caring friend, Wanda Roberts of Fairfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Junior; her brother, Johnny Gibson; and her sisters, Barbara Deering, Nancy Swartz; and Niecy Mae Harris. Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday, May 26, 2006 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Charles Petit of New Beginning Tabernacle officiating. Burial will follow in Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. | |
